The Power In His Name!

After watching this video, I was impressed with the calm demeanor of the store clerk. It was clear  that she has a relationship with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit was guiding her as she witnessed to the man.

The “power made perfect,” only takes hold as we lay our own lives down for another. She was more concerned about this man and his soul, than her own life. The Lord tells us, “Whoever loses their life for my sake, shall find it.”

His name is powerful. It is “the name above every name by which man can be saved.” This man knew this and became remorseful about his actions. The conviction of the Holy Spirit fell on him, in that moment that this young girls unconditional love, began to pour out. This is the drink of water that this man needed.

Yes, he could get the money for his rent, and he would need it again. The water from the well, which Jesus Christ spoke about. But, as He said, “When you drink of the water, which I can give, you will never thirst again.” Indeed, whether rich or poor, there just is no satisfying sin. It desires more and more and you become a vacant pit, which cannot be filled.

Jesus Christ comes to each of us, to speak this. You can be at the pinnacle of success, and still be empty. You can be this man, about to lose your home, and be desperate enough to destroy another person. In the end, both will be left with nothing.

The girls words, “The Lord is returning soon!” Her pleading with this man for his soul. It was so incredibly touching to watch. How she longed for him to turn to the Savior. Isn’t this what the Lord asks from us? To speak the message and to be bold! No backing down.

Even if this man was thrown into prison, he has a choice to be free. By the same token, even a man who is living in luxury, may be in prison. The only one who can change this for us is Jesus Christ. He is The Way, The Truth, and the Life. And those who know The Truth, shall be free indeed!”

Another One Bites the Dust!

Woman, where are your accusers?

The words are often quoted from the story in John 8:7, “If any of you, is without sin. let him be the first to throw a stone.”

One of my favorite stories in scripture, as it points to the hypocrisy of us all. It brings such conviction as we see so many examples which the Lord was pointing out, in one experience.

First we see that the Lord was ready to teach the crowd, when the Pharisees and teachers of the law, dragged a woman into the midst of all the people. “They made her stand before the group.” (v3) As if that wasn’t humiliating enough for this woman. But at closer look we see their intentions were not so much to bring shame to her, as it was to trap the Lord and discredit him before the crowds He was drawing.

So now you see the pride of man, once again, welling up,and the scheming involved with this setup. Well, after all, they were the teachers of the law. And in accordance with the law, any woman caught in adultery, would be stoned. Ahh, this time they really had Jesus. Or so they thought. I mean, after all, if He was the great rabbi, the teacher, He must fulfill the laws, right?

Well, Jesus, being God, fulfilled the whole of the law. Remember, He didn’t come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. And now the first question would be, in my mind, “How did they know she was committing adultery, if they were not also sinning, by watching the act? First point and I’m sure something which crossed all of their minds, when He began to speak.

Now, they reminded Him, that “the law of Moses commanded them to stone such women.” (v5) I have to chuckle at this. When I think of these people quoting such things to our Lord. I have had people come to me and speak total nonsense, and even tell me this is written in the Bible. Preposterous words and ideas, never mentioned. They are convinced it is the truth, and I want to say, “What in the world are you talking about?” But I’m human, imagine what the Lord was thinking at times. Not only knowing all truth, but He is TRUTH.

So, He knew what they were doing and “Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger.” (v6) This is right before He uttered those profound words.

What in the world had He written? Whatever it was, it had a powerful message. It was not just the words He spoke, but the fact that He was giving a word picture, in the sand. It was so powerful that as we continue reading we can see, He spoke of the one who was without sin to start the process and He “again stooped down and wrote on the ground.” (v8)

It was at this point that they began to leave, the older ones first. In that order. At this moment the Lord was alone with the woman and asked her, “where are your accusers?”

The law also required two witnesses before a stoning could occur. Now she stood before the Lord and grace was given. “Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

What did He write? Many have pondered this, however, I believe the concept of the names and ages of all the men which brought this woman to Him. They were the ultimate authorities of the teachings and the laws. So it is without question that they knew what Jeremiah, the prophet had spoken.

“A glorious throne exalted from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. O Lord the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the spring of living water. (Jeremiah 17:13)

I’m believing that these men did not immediately recognize their own blindness, or they would see that Jeremiah had stated their demise, quite plainly. However, I do believe that the Lord, had written something shocking enough that they dropped their stones, and it certainly would have been something which would fulfill prophecy. This would have  definitely scared them, to see their names and ages, written in the dirt. Especially, since it doesn’t seem that the Lord had known them, personally.

The fact that they left, in the order of the oldest to the youngest, perhaps speaks to the fact that He also had written their ages, and as the oldest seems to be the wisest, showed the understanding each had.

He basically read their mail, just as He had with the Samaritan woman at the well. However, this revelation, brought shame and conviction to these men, in a way which pointed out their hypocrisy, legalism and sanctimony, which they used to destroy peoples lives, rather than to edify them. The beautiful picture is the way our Lord, extended His loving grace, as a means of leading her to repentance.

After the woman has escaped death, He tells her, “now go and leave your life of sin.” He fulfilled the law and showed the way out of this bondage to sin. It was His love, which  had the power to change her heart.

When we look at a ‘religious system,’ we see many who are still in the throes of legalism. Deceived into believing that they can somehow, fulfill the right codes or laws to allow them entrance into the kingdom of God. Our Lord showed us time and time again, this is an impossibility. “For it is by grace which we are saved, not by works, lest any man should boast.”

Although He was very clear when He spoke to the woman,”go and sin no more.” As Paul said, “What shall we say then? Shall we go on sinning that grace may increase? By no means!” (Romans 6:1) Yes, he is adamant about the fact that when His grace is extended to us, He also gives us the power to turn away from sin.

Remember the legalist, will turn away from Him. The living water. But to those to whom the Savior has been revealed, grace has come, and with that the power of His Spirit to change the person. Now they can walk toward Him and turn away from the world.

Ask for His grace and He will open your eyes to the mercy He has poured out on you. This is the power He has made available to all men. A release from the captivity of sin.

I made spikes with red paint on them to give out at Easter, one year. I told people, it was symbolic of our Lord and His sacrifice for us. I had a vision of these men standing in the group with stones, ready to hurl them at this woman. In their other hand was one of the spikes, dripping with our Lord’s blood. After having a vision such as this, I wondered, how can any of us be worthy to throw a stone, when our sins have  been responsible for the nails, in His hands and feet?

AMAZING GRACE!

The Accuser of the Brethren

B&W PatrioticHaha! Some folks just don’t get it. Christians aren’t good people and they are trying to make me run and hide from my past. Believers just understand that we walk in repentance  and truth. The only one that does that to a person is the enemy and we don’t retreat. Jesus Christ died so that I could live.

Mary had fallen at His feet and broken open a vessel of costly oil and anointed Him with this oil and who would be standing by but the religious people and Judas most specifically to point out what a unclean woman she was and how could this righteous man allow this woman of ill repute even touch Him? Jesus, being able to read the thoughts of men, turned to these men and spoke…”those who are forgiven much, love much, for those who are forgiven little, love little..” Speaking right to the self -righteous attitudes of the people in the room and He told them that this woman’s one small act would never be forgotten, for she had done this in an act of self humility and preparation of His burial. Mary Magdalene’s name still is held in high honor and she was the first person He chose to reveal Himself to in His resurrected form. But she also knew her need of repentance.

As you look in Revelation14, you will see that the Lord speaks to the lukewarm church. He says I will spew you out of my mouth. Because you are not hot or cold. I wish you were either one or the other! The word for spit is actually translated (vomit) You say I am rich;I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing. But you do not realize that you are pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me, gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich, and white  clothes to wear , so you can cover your shameful nakedness, and salve to put on your eyes so that you can see.

What does this mean? It’s something that I have done and the reason that I am immune to these attacks. First of all, you have to understand that no one can enter into the kingdom of God until they become naked and you cannot put on religious garments to “cover up.” It makes the Lord vomit. This is what He means by being lukewarm. He can see through that. He’d rather you were just blatantly outside of the church than pretending.

When He speaks of “gold refined in the fire,” it is fire so intense, it can melt all of the impurities  so it is pure.

“Buy they eye salve so you can see.” This is they salve of truth and it is not always easy, but it is the only way to walk.

He follows this with, v19″Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door. I will come in and eat with him and he with me.

Now, this is the promise all through the book of Revelation. You will see it repeated, to him who overcomes. Yes, I had fallen away for a time. I had a terrible marriage and thought I might find some satisfaction in the world. I had a strong faith before but years of verbal abuse left me vulnerable. I started to falter and the enemy knew I was weak. He knows all of our weaknesses. Thats what I craved and the first place I looked was in the world for satisfaction.

I was the woman at the well. One of my favorite stories in scripture. The Samaritan woman that had come to the well in  of the day to draw water from the well. Jesus asked her for a drink, yet the Jews were not supposed to associate with the Samaritans. “How is it you ask me for a drink?” When Jesus spoke to her He told her, if you drink of this water, you will thirst again, but if you drink of the water I have to give you will never thirst again. ” He then proceeded to “read her mail.”  This woman after repeated attempts at finding love in all the wrong places and coming up dry, realizes, this is no ordinary man and states, “I can see that you are a prophet.” I think this part is pretty funny, since He’s already told her that she’s right when she says she has no husband, since she’s had five and the one she’s with right now, she isn’t married to.But it’s at this point that He reveals His true identity and once again, I’m amazed. The disciples return and they are also amazed, yet I don’t know why, because this is how He chose them. Is it because she’s a Samaritan? Because she’s a woman of ill repute? Or both? The fact is an shall always be, that Christ reveals Himself to the lost, the broken and the enemy tries to bring shame.

Satan will always try to remind us of our past and destroy our testimony, but it doesn’t work, because everything is at the foot of the cross and “we overcome by the word our testimony, and the blood of the Lamb, and not loving our lives unto death.” So you see, you can’t kill someone that is already dead. This is the freedom that the Lord is talking about. This is what is meant by “coming clean.” No one can put you under their thumb. Who hasn’t sinned? The Lord says, “the prince of this world has come, and he has found nothing in me.” This is what we must say. Don’t allow him to shame us into hiding. He’s the ultimate bully and I have no fear of him. True believers “trample scorpions and serpents.” When the enemy is warring against me, I know that I must really be making headway for the kingdom of God! I’m in the very frontlines of the battleground and no longer with a pliers, but with the Sword of the Spirit in hand. Waging battle, not just for me, but even for those who are against me. Only one day will they know, what a spiritual battle they are in, and what prisoners they are because of this prince of darkness and how he shames them as well.

In fact Satan himself is called the Accuser,” he accuses us before God night and day”. (Revelation12:10) So am I surprised that some would reach back and pull things from my past? No, bring it. It will allow me to share my testimony.

At any rate I’m not running for public office, but if I were I would say the same thing. Share your testimony. It’s what the Lord was telling everyone from the beginning. It’s the truth that makes you free.

And now I know, I have no need of anything but the Living Water. I understand what the Lord meant because I’ve tasted and seen that the Lord is good and I want to share with others what I have found. The water that once you have had it you will never thirst again.

It is a good feeling to become naked, so that He can clothe you with His white linen garments. To buy His gold refined by the fire and the eye salve, that will allow you to see the truth so that you can walk in His ways.

“He directs the steps of a righteous man.”
