The Father of Lies

Now to continue on the earlier posts, the lies in our lives must be “pulled down.” The Father of lies, is the devil and he is busy all day long. He continues to wreak havoc in our lives. Spinning, spinning, spinning. I have had a saying, “when truth is absent, deception abounds.”

Yes, he is called, “The Accuser.” When other’s point the finger of guilt at someone, it is to avoid looking into the mirror. However, the Holy Spirit, does bring conviction of sin. This is done with love. But, when it is not in love, then we know, who is behind it.

Now, the other day, I was talking with someone about some issues, and my son was sitting in the next room. I heard him pipe up, and he said, “It’s bad parenting.” First of all, I thought. It’s not his business, but then wondered, where in the world did he hear this? “No, it’s not.” I corrected him. I was addressing an issue of spiritual authority, which the Lord wants us to understand, and this has nothing to do with bad parenting. I wanted him to understand, that this is a label, and a judgement, which I surely didn’t make. But later, I had to ponder this. I remembered, him making this statement to me as a joke, the day before, and wondered where he had heard it. Was it in reference to me? Was it a statement which someone said, I made about them? This disturbed me even more. Because, I know how the enemy operates, and this is an accusatory statement, I was upset.

But this is exactly what Satan does to people to keep them divided and bitter. He makes untrue statements about God’s Word, and a persons character, and twists it all around. Then he uses emotions to build his fortress of evil. If he can get someone to carry out his evil plans he has won. This is why the Lord tells us, “not to let the sun go down on our anger.” Do not even give it a day.

This is what scripture tells us about this, “You belong to your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44)

We must line everything up to God’s Word. Is this true? Is this what God would say? At any rate, we are all bad, because, we’re sinners, and we have all gone astray, as the Lord has told us. Each one of us. So, I would certainly not place myself in any position of honor. I know that I have only received grace like everyone else. But when the Lord has given us stewardship of souls, He also asks for an accounting, one day. I am very much aware of this, and desire those around me to know the authority which we are under.

I have been made keenly aware of the fact that everything we do has future ramifications. I never understood the seed time and harvest, as much as I do now. Yes, the old cliché, “Youth is wasted on the young,” is more profound than ever. If only they knew, how serious, the decisions will affect the rest of their lives. I only pray, that they can see, what I could not.

But yet, I still have my bible, that was given to me, when I was placed in a Children’s Home, at only 7 years old. The front cover is completely torn off, but inscribed on the first page is written, “Happy are those who listen to God’s Word and keep it.”Luke 11:28 From Robert, the Sunday School Teacher, May 9, 1965

I would say, that sums it up. That Sunday school teacher, planted the seeds, which I needed to carry me through this difficult life. The Father of lies, was going to come against me time after time. Being in the Children’s Home, was only the first of his lies. He was telling me I would never see my mother or father again. He was telling me I was to be an orphan. No one cared about me.

But that’s all he does is lie. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, his strategy is to keep people divided with his lies, because if they are all together in unity, he would be exposed. So the lies he tells, must keep people divided. So the signature of the enemy is that he does NOT want unity. Look around. Do you see people like that? the enemy wants division. Discord. Understand this is warfare. Learn by studying the word! Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment and wisdom.

The Lord wants unity of spirit. Love, honesty. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Where Does Authority Originate?

Make disciples

It is the Great Commission. We were also told by the Lord that He must leave this earth, so that He would be able to send the Holy Spirit and by doing this, we would have “all power and all authority,” that Christ also had on this earth.

What does this mean?
Well, all one must do is read the accounts of Christ and his ministry to see, what He did when He was on this earth.
When He said, all power and authority, that’s what He means!
If there are doubter’s out there, it’s because they haven’t experienced it, or they just don’t want to take the steps necessary to walk in it.
It certainly  isn’t because of weakness on God’s behalf, but it would be because of our own. This is why He tells us to spend time in the Word, so that our faith which begins with a “mustard seed” may grow. For we each receive a measure of faith, which to build on, and it is up to each one, to continue to reach full potential. Of course, some never will do this. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” One first must come to this understanding, that God, indeed, exists, in order to begin to seek Him, and then He states, “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him, must believe that He exists, and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)  For those of us that have walked the walk, we are told to “make disciples.”
As  our faith grows, we begin to believe in the promises and as we believe, we start to walk in obedience to that Word.
“Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and Obey it.”
Once we begin to walk in obedience, we are submitting to His authority and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us, rather than being “self-governed.
Self-will is what destroyed man in the beginning and it is rebellion. This is what the Lord compared to as “witchcraft.” If it’s manipulation or any power other than the power of the Holy Spirit, it’s considered witchcraft to God.  People walking in rebellion will never have the anointing  which comes from walking in obedience to His word. Oh, sure maybe the false miracles from the other side, but that won’t last, and it always ends in destruction.
Now while I was quite young I realized that I had a love for the bible and Gods words. As I saw the truth I saw the power it conveyed. I also realized that I my perceptions of the world were different. I saw terms in black and white. I knew that ‘truth’ was absolute. Even as a young girl. I could see things that the average person  didn’t seem to see in the same light. At first I thought it  to be within the framework of  my own family, but realized it must have been a larger scope when I was noticed by the pastor of my church. It was after my initial conversion experience.
When he called me in for a meeting and I found  he was intrigued by this relationship that I had with the Lord. I was surprised myself at this meeting, since it was not something I had thought was quite so obvious to the naked eye What was it that he noticed? He told me, that my questions seemed profound to him, coming from someone my age. And he could see that I was different. Pastor Eggert. I loved him with a father’s type of love.  He never realized what an impact that meeting had on me. I had always wanted to go back and thank him, but alas, he died before I had the chance. Now, I will have to wait until I see him on the other side.
I can see it was a very similar experience to the Lord’s and wisdom is something that we are told to ask for and it is given liberally by God.
In Mark 6, Jesus went to his hometown, with his disciples. Remember, his disciples now had been following Him and knew the incredible things they had heard and seen and were astounded to be at His side. But coming to our local hangout is always a different story, isn’t it? Jesus began to teach and it said that, “many were amazed. Where did He get these things? What’s this wisdom that has been given him, that He does these miracles! Isn’t this the carpenter?”
I love this so much and always have! Always hidden until the time He decides He will make Himself known- and only to those who are humble enough to see Him for who He really is.  The ones who are  looking for a man of royalty or honor..will not find Him.
When you look at a few verses later it states, “They took offense at Him.” Instead of seeking the wisdom of God, people “take offense.” That made me laugh. Sorry Lord. But I know you are laughing now too. It happens to me constantly. Every time I just want to go “What the?????”  It could be pride, defensiveness, or a host of other reasons. All I know is that Christ Himself wasn’t immune and neither are we.
All the wisdom of Christ is available to us and the same thing happens.
We don’t receive our wisdom from textbooks. I had a keen understanding of this when I was quite young and at my first spiritual conversion.
It was the purpose of the pastors the meeting with me. He wanted to understand, how I understood these deep reasonings as a child. When I pointed to scripture and told Him that I could see that Jesus had spoken these things and I could grasp this. Looking back on this pivotal meeting in my life, it was so very much like Jesus and Nicodemus, however, I had no idea, what had happened to me, and he wanted me to explain the regeneration experience. How can you tell someone, you’ve been born again, when you don’t know?   After all, he went to a seminary and they don’t teach about the ‘born again experience’ there either. It’s a ‘calling, which is more like a career choice. Sorry folks, but I grew up with the legalists, and that’s what it was. Everyone seemed to get a ‘calling’ to a convenient location too. Call me a bit cynical, but hey, I told you, I grew up with legalists. Very few of them, if any were truly ‘born again,’ so when this experience happened to me, Pastor Eggert wanted to know. He was, Nicodemus sneaking behind the Pharisees backs to find out what happened.
Now  I can tell you that that day, as we spoke the scriptures came to life. In Matthew 7:7″Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks, finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” It isn’t a magic formula. It’s a simple request from a child to a Father. And then I asked for wisdom, but God’s wisdom. And for the rest of my life the Lord granted my request. “When Jesus had finished saying these things the crowds were amazed at His teaching because He taught as one who had authority, not as teachers of the law.
I also understood that authority is not something conveyed upon man by other men.But it is granted by God to men. The least was the greatest of all. In the spiritual world they recognize this authority and they do one of two things, they hide from the Holy Spirit, or as Adam did, or they submit to Him in humility. On occassion they will challenge the authority and lie to the Holy Spirit and that is grief to me. This I know will be “hell to pay.” As in the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5. It would be better for a person to just hide then to lie to the Lord. So I would rather a person not even tell me anything than the courtroom drama.  The Lord gives His grace to the humble but He is opposed to the proud. He will deal with them in His own time.
A person will only submit to another if it is an authority given by God Himself. There is a spiritual hierarchy that exists, I’m fascinated when I see it in action.
It existed long before this world was created and will continue into eternity.
The spiritual kingdom has rulers and powers, and it has nothing to do with the powers of this world.Satan is the god of this world. This temporary, passing world of darkness. His promises, are false and he is the thief that comes to “rob, steal and destroy.”
But those powers recognize the Holy Spirit in the body of believers and the Holy Spirit reveals all truth to believers. You can’t help but see truth from deception when the Holy Spirit lives in you. Jesus Christ is the author of all truth. This is why I have found it difficult at times. I’ve wondered why everyone just doesn’t see  certain thing’s when they seem so clear or why they do certain things that are so cruel. Some things just seem plain as day and I get irritated, but that’s just it and what the Lord has been trying to show me in His word. It’s plain as DAY…most people are still in the NIGHT.
At times we tend to forget this power we carry and we walk in the flesh.
We constantly war against these spirits. They always want to engage us.
Always trying to defend their position of darkness, when there is no defense. Just today, I had two people trying to talk to me just the other day,  about someone else, almost like a tag team, and it was most bizarre. The person they were talking about isn’t even alive and they seemed to be making a case for her. The more they both talked, the more the Lord reminded me that they were testifying before the Holy Spirit. As I was wondering why they were saying these things to me, almost firing off statements in succession, I wondered at this, mock, trial. What in the world was this about? There really was no reason for them to be going on like this to me. I’m not trying a case and if anything they should have been defending the poor woman, who was no longer alive to defend herself.  If I opened my mouth I wanted to say, “Hey do you have a dog in this fight, or what?”  But then the Lord reminded me once again…”Spiritual armor” Just stand. ” He also reminded me that this happens everywhere we go as believers because the Holy Spirit testifies to the truth and remember, there are also others in this world. The devil tries to manipulate people and circumstances. “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)
There’s darkness and there’s light.” You must be the light on the hill.”
Now, all authority, is Under authority. Everyone has an authority that they are under and they report to. As Bob Dylan sang…You Gotta Serve Somebody. It May Be the Devil, It May Be the Lord, But You Gotta Serve Somebody.
Our responsibility… Pray for those in darkness that they are set free and translated into His  marvelous light! We were allwalking in darkness at one time. Unable to see and I am always reminded, have grace, you were there too.Remember you are battling spirits not people. They are only living in vessels that have yielded themselves to them.
He tells me, “Your vessel is yielded to Me. Theirs is yielded to someone else, have Grace.
I big clue….Read the end of the story….We Win!!!
