Another One Bites the Dust!

Woman, where are your accusers?

The words are often quoted from the story in John 8:7, “If any of you, is without sin. let him be the first to throw a stone.”

One of my favorite stories in scripture, as it points to the hypocrisy of us all. It brings such conviction as we see so many examples which the Lord was pointing out, in one experience.

First we see that the Lord was ready to teach the crowd, when the Pharisees and teachers of the law, dragged a woman into the midst of all the people. “They made her stand before the group.” (v3) As if that wasn’t humiliating enough for this woman. But at closer look we see their intentions were not so much to bring shame to her, as it was to trap the Lord and discredit him before the crowds He was drawing.

So now you see the pride of man, once again, welling up,and the scheming involved with this setup. Well, after all, they were the teachers of the law. And in accordance with the law, any woman caught in adultery, would be stoned. Ahh, this time they really had Jesus. Or so they thought. I mean, after all, if He was the great rabbi, the teacher, He must fulfill the laws, right?

Well, Jesus, being God, fulfilled the whole of the law. Remember, He didn’t come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. And now the first question would be, in my mind, “How did they know she was committing adultery, if they were not also sinning, by watching the act? First point and I’m sure something which crossed all of their minds, when He began to speak.

Now, they reminded Him, that “the law of Moses commanded them to stone such women.” (v5) I have to chuckle at this. When I think of these people quoting such things to our Lord. I have had people come to me and speak total nonsense, and even tell me this is written in the Bible. Preposterous words and ideas, never mentioned. They are convinced it is the truth, and I want to say, “What in the world are you talking about?” But I’m human, imagine what the Lord was thinking at times. Not only knowing all truth, but He is TRUTH.

So, He knew what they were doing and “Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger.” (v6) This is right before He uttered those profound words.

What in the world had He written? Whatever it was, it had a powerful message. It was not just the words He spoke, but the fact that He was giving a word picture, in the sand. It was so powerful that as we continue reading we can see, He spoke of the one who was without sin to start the process and He “again stooped down and wrote on the ground.” (v8)

It was at this point that they began to leave, the older ones first. In that order. At this moment the Lord was alone with the woman and asked her, “where are your accusers?”

The law also required two witnesses before a stoning could occur. Now she stood before the Lord and grace was given. “Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

What did He write? Many have pondered this, however, I believe the concept of the names and ages of all the men which brought this woman to Him. They were the ultimate authorities of the teachings and the laws. So it is without question that they knew what Jeremiah, the prophet had spoken.

“A glorious throne exalted from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. O Lord the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the spring of living water. (Jeremiah 17:13)

I’m believing that these men did not immediately recognize their own blindness, or they would see that Jeremiah had stated their demise, quite plainly. However, I do believe that the Lord, had written something shocking enough that they dropped their stones, and it certainly would have been something which would fulfill prophecy. This would have  definitely scared them, to see their names and ages, written in the dirt. Especially, since it doesn’t seem that the Lord had known them, personally.

The fact that they left, in the order of the oldest to the youngest, perhaps speaks to the fact that He also had written their ages, and as the oldest seems to be the wisest, showed the understanding each had.

He basically read their mail, just as He had with the Samaritan woman at the well. However, this revelation, brought shame and conviction to these men, in a way which pointed out their hypocrisy, legalism and sanctimony, which they used to destroy peoples lives, rather than to edify them. The beautiful picture is the way our Lord, extended His loving grace, as a means of leading her to repentance.

After the woman has escaped death, He tells her, “now go and leave your life of sin.” He fulfilled the law and showed the way out of this bondage to sin. It was His love, which  had the power to change her heart.

When we look at a ‘religious system,’ we see many who are still in the throes of legalism. Deceived into believing that they can somehow, fulfill the right codes or laws to allow them entrance into the kingdom of God. Our Lord showed us time and time again, this is an impossibility. “For it is by grace which we are saved, not by works, lest any man should boast.”

Although He was very clear when He spoke to the woman,”go and sin no more.” As Paul said, “What shall we say then? Shall we go on sinning that grace may increase? By no means!” (Romans 6:1) Yes, he is adamant about the fact that when His grace is extended to us, He also gives us the power to turn away from sin.

Remember the legalist, will turn away from Him. The living water. But to those to whom the Savior has been revealed, grace has come, and with that the power of His Spirit to change the person. Now they can walk toward Him and turn away from the world.

Ask for His grace and He will open your eyes to the mercy He has poured out on you. This is the power He has made available to all men. A release from the captivity of sin.

I made spikes with red paint on them to give out at Easter, one year. I told people, it was symbolic of our Lord and His sacrifice for us. I had a vision of these men standing in the group with stones, ready to hurl them at this woman. In their other hand was one of the spikes, dripping with our Lord’s blood. After having a vision such as this, I wondered, how can any of us be worthy to throw a stone, when our sins have  been responsible for the nails, in His hands and feet?

AMAZING GRACE!

Everything That Can Be Shaken…

WILL BE SHAKEN!

My Words will never pass away

Yes, that is what the Lord has told us about the last days on this earth and the sifting that would take place. He told us that spiritual people would be able to see with spiritual eyes, and hear with spiritual ears, what the Spirit of God was pointing out and this is that, the earthly, what is temporary and natural, would fall apart. The true church of Jesus Christ, would begin to rise up. In fact, it has been gaining strength all along, but you would see it rising stronger from the ashes, as the false church begins to crumble.

Man, always wants to build on something and it is the pride of life that is the root that drives this force. Pride behind religion, behind position, status, the need for money, which is the love of money. Remember, it is not money which is the root of all evil, but the love of money. So many people quote that scripture out of context. The love of anything outside of the Lord is what causes the worship of a false God and our demise.
If Satan can lead us astray in any way, and as I’ve stated before, his greatest deception is religion, he has totally blinded us. It’s the golden calf. Moses, up at the mountain, in intimate fellowship with God Himself. Receiving instructions on keeping the children of Israel safe and what are they doing down below? Throwing all their jewelry into a fire to make a useless idol to dance around and worship. Oh, how the enemy loves to make a mockery of God!
And to this day, in the name of religion. He has given us the law that pointed to life! Jesus Christ. He took everything upon Himself and all we have to do is look into His word to see. It points to life eternal.
The Pharisees and the Sadducees kept the Jews from seeing it though. They kept leading the people astray by teaching a foreign word. All bondage to something these poor people could not keep. It was an impossibility. Just as it was for the so-called teachers. “Blind leaders!”
As Christ called them, White washed tombs! Yes looking great on the outside for all the world to see. But they were dead on the inside. And these were the ones trying to lead the people to life?
Now I’m not trying to pick on the Catholic church, since they are in the forefront of the news; but they are no different from so many denominations. They’re just a perfect example of what the Lord was trying to point out. Namely, they have absolutely nothing to do with what He was preaching. Nothing. Christ did not come to this earth to do away with the law, but to fulfill the law! And yes, HE fulfilled it. Not some priest or pope! He is the only one that died for you and me!
He told people who “no one is good except God alone.”(matt:18)”And do not call anyone on earth ‘father’ for you have one Father and he is in heaven.”(Matt23:9)
Even Mary, mother of Jesus, stated “and my spirit rejoices in God my savior.”
Mary was highly favored among women, but why did she refer to the Lord as “My Lord and My Savior,” if there was nothing for her to be saved from? If she was without sin? This is not a biblical teaching. (Luke 1:46)
Even in the book of John, when the angel appeared, he fell down at his feet and the angel commanded John to get up! No one is to be worshipped except the one who gave His life as a ransom for us!
As I stated, the enemy will use any means and any deception he can, and as the bible clearly tells us, about these last days. Be on guard! For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It’s not surprising then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. All of these priests molesting children and using their positions within the church to do it. It should not surprise a person within scripture. This has been prophesied thousands of years ago.  It states;  Their end will be as their actions deserve. (2 Corinthians 11:13) It shouldn’t surprise any person following scripture, but the problem is that most people in  church, does not follow a bible, therefore, they have no idea what happens next.
Look, I know this flies in the face of a lot of tradition. But when I was just a young girl being in a Lutheran church, I had a lot of questions too.
I saw things in my bible and these things didn’t line up with what I was being taught by my religious leaders.
So, I had to come to a place where I was being challenged. Do I ask who’s right? Is this book that they tell me is the inerrant word of God, correct? Or did God make some mistakes?
Or does everyone just get to pick and choose what they like?
When they started to waffle, I realized that hey, then what makes this religion right and all the thousands of others wrong?
Even as a child, I realized, there is only one simple truth and God didn’t complicate things…man did. And he did it so he could justify his own sins. That’s right. We’re right back to square one. Trying to make God’s word fit our own lifestyle. It will never, ever work. Just surrender.
Listen to Jesus words for this; “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was you good pleasure.”
Remember, as a child, I saw the contradictions. Although the authorities, were trying to teach that the way was in this book, as I looked into this book, I saw what was being taught was not lining up with what Jesus spoke. This is a decision I had to make one day. Who do I follow? Man or God?

Who are you following? I encourage ever person to get a bible and learn how to study. Pray that the Holy Spirit gives you guidance. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you, fill you and sanctify you. It’s that simple. “Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” (Luke 24:45) You must ask!

Why Would You Go Back To the Law?

There is a choice

There is a choice

We keep doing it, over and over again, without ever realizing it. It’s so subtle. Yes, as Bob Dylan said, “The enemy is subtle, how be it we are deceived? When the truth is in our hearts, and  we still won’t believe? Shine Your Light, Shine Your Light On Me!(Precious Angel) We keep returning to the law,  which cannot save.

Now do you think that the Jews are any different from any religious system of works? They were chosen because they were the only nation that believed in the one true God. All of the other nations followed pagan gods. This is why God had to preserve them as His people and made covenant with them. He alone gave them all of these laws. And this is what bound them to Himself. He had to preserve them as His own to bring the messiah through them. God will not take back His covenant, nor deny Himself.

The Jews were blinded by hundreds of laws. Don’t you remember? They were handed down from God Himself . Were they given just to amuse Himself? Absolutely not. They all had a purpose. Here’s an example of one of the hundreds. The two goats. Only one was to be used on the Day of Atonement. The scapegoat, was released after the sins of the nation of Israel had been placed upon its head. It is of course where we get the term, “scapegoat,”  It is also the reason that you will see so many demonically inspired uses in the artwork today. I’m amazed after it had been pointed out to me. A picture of sin. An innocent animal left to die. Hmm, interesting picture.

Now all of those laws. So many and a lot just didn’t make much sense. They all were types and foreshadows of messiah. Yet, when Paul spoke he clearly reminded the Jews that if they chose to go back to the law, they would have be judged by the law and if they violated one, they violated the whole of the law. He said that “the laws had  to been given,  to point us to our need of a savior!.

Indeed, we had no desire to sin until the law was given!” Oh, I love that! Just look at Adam and Eve in the garden. Oh, better yet. Look at a little child and their innocence…until you tell them they can’t touch something. That’s when that rebellion rears it’s ugly head. Now remember how the Pharisees chastised Jesus for healing a  man on the Sabbath? How preposterous was that? He IS the sabbath! He had to ask them if it was easier to forgive the man or heal him? Then he told him to pick up his mat and walk? He was always rocking the proverbial boat of the religious leaders, but yet He was the leader and they were so blinded with religious pride, couldn’t see Him. I thought it humorous and sad.

“The law of sin and death is in the flesh.” We are born into sin but thanks be to Jesus Christ who has set us free from the law of  sin and the grave! Now, when we look at all of the man-made doctrines it is a subtle way of taking us back to the law, once again. Trying to earn our way. We must do as Paul told the Bereans to do. Question everything by scripture. My pastor taught me to do this in my church and one day I had to even do this with him once. I have great respect for him, yet the Lord commands us to line everything up with His word.

When I was in the Lutheran church I started to question the spiritual leaders. I realized that Martin Luther had split from the Catholic church because he discovered they had not been teaching from scripture the fundamentals, “that we are saved by grace not by works.” Of course there was the Reformation and many people realized that only the leadership  had a bibles, and Martin Luther found one, hidden away and saw these truths which began the split. We know that one “comes to faith by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” So that changed the whole course of history, but then the Lutheran’s also erred. They also became legalistic. No different from the Pharisees of old. I wanted to know God. I didn’t care about any man’s religion. I could see as a young girl who Christ never stood in the midst of crowds and stated, “now look guys I want you to be Baptists, you to be Catholics and you to be Jews.” And Jesus was a Jew for good reason. Born into the nation of Israel. God didn’t make a mistake. I wanted to understand this convenant.

Another thing that I noticed as a young girl was that the only time Jesus seemed to have a problem was when he was confronted by those religious guys.He really didn’t spend very much time inside the temple. Here I was seeing the same thing with religious people. And when I went with my girlfriend to see Jesus Christ Superstar, something powerful happened watching that crucifixion scene. I noticed that the doctrines in my church became more ritualistic and I started to question them as a young girl. I saw things in my bible that weren’t being taught.  Perhaps because these leaders didn’t understand. I saw Nicodemus go to Jesus and ask him how he could enter the kingdom of heaven. I heard Jesus tell him plainly, “unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” I wondered at this and many other things that were spoken. I wondered what made our religion, “right,” and everyone else s wrong.

Then, something happened to me. A spiritual experience. It was so noticable that a pastor called me in to speak to me about it. He wanted to know. But how could he explain it? They all went to seminary, but were never taught that to be ‘born again,’ is an experience that the Lord was telling Nicodemus must happen to each person if they are to enter the kingdom of God. We must become like a child before this experience takes place. It is not a religion and we cannot keep the laws. We must simply have faith and know that He is the savior who has fulfilled the laws. We must know we are a sinner and cannot keep any laws as Paul says and if those laws weren’t given, we would have no reason to sin.

Now it wasn’t until Roman Emperor Constantine came on the scene, and became a Christian that Catholicism began. He became born again. He was so zealous, that he wanted the whole of Rome to become Christian, however they had all been pagans up to this point. As most people understand, you cannot force conversions. Especially since these pagans, were anti-Semitic and the Christians, for the most part, were still mostly Jewish. So, to make it more palatable, he allowed the mix of the pagan practices. The Goddess Astarte, for example was worshipped. She was the goddess of fertility. And instead of celebrating Passover, which the Romans, would not do, they used eggs and bunnies, etc. as and celebrated Easter or Resurrection Sunday.

Sunday, was taken from the Sun God( yes, even our calendars have pagan roots), and although Jesus did not celebrate His own birthday anywhere in scripture, He did celebrate the Festival of Lights, Chanukah and it was on this day that he spoke to the religious leaders when he stated, “I am the light of the world!” Claiming to be the center candle of the menorah, gives this whole new meaning when we understand this from His perspective.

Without offending anyone, as Paul has stated, “everything is acceptable, but everything is now acceptable in the Lord, since we have freedom in the Spirit, however, everything is not beneficial.” Yes, in my house, I do both. I celebrate Resurrection Sunday, yet I also celebrate the Passover, since I know that the Lord Is the Passover. I know that He did not celebrate Easter and place a basket of eggs and chocolate bunnies around his house. Although its okay. Let me tell you, if you’ve ever been to a seder, you will wonder why the Jews do not see Jesus as the messiah. I recommend every believer do this. The Lord told us that it is meant for all of us to celebrate throughout every generation They are not called the Jewish Feasts, but the Feasts of the Lord. And they are meant for believers more than anyone else and in them is a mystery;the timetable of God, unlocked only by those with the Spirit of God.

What the Lord told us to do is this: “Learn of Me Not any religious doctrine, not any man-made institution. It was in the name of every religion that He was crucified. The word religion itself means, a return to bondage. I want freedom. Freedom in Christ. Freedom from the law to know Him.But now I know, I am part of this covenant. I am no longer judged by the law and there is nothing greater than this. I want everyone to know this freedom.

He is the beginning and  the end of everything. The Alpha and Omega.
