Challenge Your World!

This is something that we should do. Question authority? Yes, I’ve always been one to question. How do you find answers, if you just walk in submissive obedience to everyone, who has a title. Just because a person, is educated academically, and has the position, does not guarantee wisdom. I learned that this, is very different, from knowledge. For example; I have met very young children, with more wisdom, than their age conveys. And by the same token, I have seen people in high levels, of authority, with no sense, whatsoever.

Wisdom can only be given by the source of all wisdom. And that is from God. Wisdom, apart from God, so-called “conventional wisdom,” is just another term for, foolishness.

I had to remember reading the accounts of Satan’s fall from heaven, many times. I was intrigued that he, along with a third of the angels, “abandoned their positions of authority.” And the next account was, their being cast down. Hmm, where are they now? Well, we know Satan made his next appearance, right in the Garden of Eden, and he’s been wreaking havoc ever since. But we were told that he is, “the god of this world.” (small g, here) For a limited time. So this means, he rules this world. And how does he do this? Well, by inspiring evil and corruption. And it’s not difficult, since we all have this predisposition.

I started questioning when I was a very young girl. Always inquisitive. I wondered, why my Lutheran pastors, believed what they believed, and why I should believe this. Because they told me to? I would read the Bible, and see things in it, that the Lutherans, didn’t practice, so I would ask: “why can’t we do these things? Christ says we can.” The standard answer was, “Oh, those miracles ended with the disciples.” What kind of answer is this? I wondered. “And why would I want to believe in a God, who is this impotent?” I would wait for someone to sell me on this.

I realized many years later, that these ministers didn’t have the answers, although, they were the teachers. I did find the answers I was looking for, but not without a lot of searching. And a willingness to challenge, the powers that be.

My generation, not only challenged authority, we defied it. It was them versus us. ‘They,’ were known as, The Establishment. The rulers of the free world. Yet, being in the midst of the Viet Nam, turmoil, showed us, that ‘they,’ didn’t always know what was best.  So, questioning the methods and the motives, became the theme of our generation. No, contrary to the commercial’s, we weren’t the “Pepsi Generation.” And the Peace movement, all but fizzled. How could it be possible, when we are mere mortals? “Peace,” was just a way of people promoting violence for their cause. And “Free Love,” was just a term used to have sex with anyone we chose. It couldn’t possibly work, when we have corruption in our hearts. However, it isn’t all bad. What we came away with, was the tenacity to challenge.

Now we have children, and they are inheritors, of our spirit. This is why the man in my post yesterday, has gained some admiration, from me and others from my generation. To outsmart the authorities, at their own game. Yes, it is what riles them. The first thing that came out of their mouths was, something could have happened to a patient. Yet, how many medical errors, do we have every year, with the real doctors at the wheel? In fact our whole health care system is a mess. In every facet, there is corruption, at work.

I found that God tells us, to question. He tells us to search for truth. It doesn’t come easy. It is a gem. And the wisdom gained, just from the search, is priceless.

I had someone tell me just recently, that it was his stint in prison, which led him to the answers. He said, “Everything you have a question to,can be answered in the Word of God.”

Yes, I know, years ago, I would have laughed at this. But that’s why God is so great. He knows, and He allows us to doubt. But, this guy was so right. When I found out that this truth was, absolute, everything in my world began to make sense. I could see that Jesus Christ was one renegade. He challenged all of the authorities of His day. He told us to question our world. In in the end, He told us to pattern ourselves after Him. This is why He was hated by the religious authorities. He made a mockery of their rituals, as they didn’t know the first meaning, of why they did the things they did. They didn’t know that He was the one, that theirs prophets spoke of. They had been blinded by pride.

I have had many experiences in my life which made me ask, “And why am I supposed to do this?” And no one could give me an answer. And “Because I tell you to,” isn’t enough for me. In fact, sometimes, the foolishness of men in authority, placed my life in jeopardy. And I wasn’t going to listen, in spite of the fact that everyone else, seemed to fall into the trap.

Just this morning, as I opened my Bible, I read the words, “I am greatly afflicted, and in my dismay I said, “All men are liars.” (Psalm 116:11) No, I wasn’t seeking dating advice, but some women would certainly agree with this! I started to ponder this and as I did, I understood; we can’t trust man, since we are all liars. Just look at the mess we’re in. If the heart of man is corrupt then we are all headed in a downward spiral. As the economy is full of fraud and corrupt practices. Law enforcement has its own share of corruption. The sports arena, has become a huge ponzi scheme. And you question why young people, are getting into trouble? Who do they look to as an example?

Well, this is why we come to a point, where we have to ask the question, “Who is the final authority?Who leads us?” That is the conclusion I had to come to in my own life. I said, “Surely there is only one truth. There’s no such thing as, “many lives, many masters.” Sorry, but that would mean “many truths.” How can this be? If truth was relative, to each person, then my truth could tell me to rob a bank, when I’m in financial trouble. Or take whatever I want, when I need it. This is the ‘truth,’ which corrupt men walk in. Which we know isn’t truth. But people love to practice this type of ‘religion,’ because it justifies their actions.

I am not telling people to defy the powers, but to challenge them. To defy authority is just anarchy. I propose we do question. Why am I doing this? Does this make sense in a world which is falling apart, because, “everyone is doing it?” And where are these people, which were supposed to evolve into Godlike status? No one has stepped forward. Where is this person as our example? Though we may have many good leaders, none of them has reached perfection.

After watching the, so-called leaders, long enough, I concluded that Christ, was the only example. And I was ecstatic to know, that to question, people in place of authority, was an example which I could follow. Even those in authority, try to paint a picture of Him, as a pious, religious fanatic. Which couldn’t be farther from the truth.

There are many pictures of the man, full of grace, and yet, full of righteous anger. I saw Him, lose it, with the people in the temple. He challenged those who would place corruption inside the temple. He took a bull-whip and turned over tables, as He screamed, “My Father’s house, shall be a house of prayer! And you’ve turned it into a den of thieves!”

Gotta love that. I see the real, person, exhibiting his anger and indignation, at what these leaders have done. And His greatest anger, is that they’re using, a religious excuse to promote their practices. How many times has this been done? Even now.

Christ spoke plainly about the authorities of His time, and nothing much has changed since then. He said, “Blind leaders! The blind follow the blind, and they both fall into a pit!” You can read all about Jesus, challenging these authorities, in the “Seven Woes.” (Matthew 23) A part of scripture, which will give you a real picture, of the conflicts between Jesus and the religious leaders. For those of you who don’t think He got into ‘name-calling,’ guess again.

So, I would challenge anyone, to walk on the little narrow path, that has been marked out for you. Don’t be afraid to question things that don’t line up. It’s your world too! Of course you’ll be despised, when you walk a different direction. “Christ said that too, “When they hate you, remember, they hated me too.” He also tells us, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor, to be with you forever. The Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him, nor knows Him. But you know Him, because He lives with you, and He lives in you.” (John 14:15)

We challenge darkness, when we walk in truth. This is where we find life.

“I tell you the Truth; Among those born of women, there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist: yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven, is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it!” (Matt 11:11)

“I Will Destroy the Wisdom of the Wise;

The intelligence of the intelligence, I will frustrate.”-God (1Cor.1:19)

Yes, the Lord is doing this as you look around. All the text books in this world, the degrees of man and we cannot get ourselves out of the messes we’ve gotten ourselves into. I can almost hear Laurel and Hardy saying those words. “This is a fine mess you’ve gotten us into!” Of course they’d have to say it to Adam, since he’s the one that started the whole ball rolling. And of course, he tried to blame Eve and that’s how blame shifting first entered into the world. haha. First he had the audacity to blame God,  then the woman. Then I’m believing the infamous term, double-play was probably first used. Next, sin covering by using their own methods and going into hiding, yea, like God couldn’t find them. Some things never change.

Well, this is still happening. The Lord gave us His word as a guide. Told us to use it and this would be our way to help us in these days. He gave us His wisdom. Now we are in the last days. That’s right folks. Do you want to know what’s going to happen? It’s all right there, in His word. Do you want to be wise? Ask Him. He tells us, all we have to do is ask.

Every time I look at a site, such as Facebook as see someone, claiming to be a believer, quoting something that is not His words about wisdom or some such nonsense, I wonder why. Some friend of mine quoted something from some Chinese guy(name withheld) and it was just plain silly. Not to mention it was totally contrary to what God states about Himself. Now today I read something from someone else claiming to be a believer, but the Holy Spirit tells me, “this is not my word.” I immediately reject it and His words come to mind. When I read these flowery words on my Facebook page with peoples little ‘thumbs up’ and nice comments, the Lord brought His words to my spirit, “No, it is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for US wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.” (1Cor.1:30) Yes,when we are in Christ, He becomes our wisdom. We understand that the wisdom of the world excludes God and it seeks to be independent. This is why it emphasizes self and human authority and refuses to make Christ the final authority. We must recognize that a secular world view is opposed to the message of the cross.

As we are entering into the spiritual darkness, it is extremely important to draw even closer to God’s truth and know His word. He tells us in 2 Corinthians:3″For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world On the contrary, they have divine power, to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” People have come to me for years, seeking my counsel. I never understood it. I do now. It’s because I have been the “wisdom of Christ.” I always wondered at this. People at ever status of life, seemed to gravitate to me and I thought it to be my compassion. But they would call me at every hour and I would make myself available to them. Yet I made it clear, especially after becoming the Lord’s servant that I was would point them to the same wisdom of the cross.

Now, this speaks of warfare against spiritual forces of evil and human talents of eloquence, wealth, charisma, personality, talents, etc. are inadequate to pull down Satan’s strongholds The weapons provided are spiritual and come from God. (notes NIV full life)

I hear remarks made by people claiming to be believers all the time and I remind them of the word. This is an example of how we are to walk as believers. This is how Jesus walked and we are to carry the word as the sword in our spirit. Strike down the enemy when he speaks the foolishness of the world. “For he is being mindful of the things of man, not the things of God.” He is trying to shake your faith. Today, I was speaking to someone and she was telling me, I should be concerned about the mortgage market and what may happen. She was trying to plan around some other things. I told her that I watched things on the news and I saw everything according to what the Lord claimed would happen. Just yesterday, I said, the teachers walked out on their students, the health care system is collapsing, our police department is caught in major corruption, corporations found in federal corruption, people out of jobs and losing their homes. The Lord clearly said that when we see all these things happen, we are not to be alarmed, but to look up, our redemption is near. “Yes, she said, but we are still here.” “Yes, we are. We are in this world, but not of this world.” I reminded her. The Lord told us, that we are kingdom people, so we will not be concerned with the same things. So though we do live in this world, we are not concerned about these temporary circumstances . Our kingdom is coming. We are kingdom people, So I told her,”we walk by faith, not by sight.” You will not see me chasing after cars, houses, wealth nor status. “To worry about such things, shows a lack of faith, and displeases the Lord. For without faith it is impossible to please God.”  The Lord speaks of true wisdom in the end of the age and what will transpire. The disciples asked Him about the signs of the end in Luke 21:5. He spoke about the famines and the earthquakes. Nations rising against nation. Kingdom against kingdom. Fearful events and signs in the heavens.

Just today I was reading about Obama’s plan to try to keep the nuclear weapons out of the hands of other nations. Well all I have to say about that is “good luck with that.” According to scripture, it just aint gonna happen. It is spoken of that there will be some cataclysmic situations, that take place after the rapture of the church, and it most certainly sounds like nuclear explosions. John refers to it in Revelation as “all of the elements melting.” In his present day vernacular that can only mean one thing.

He says before all of this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. This will result in your being witnesses to them. But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends and they will put some of you to death. All men will hate you because of me. But not a hair on your head will perish.

All of the martyrs were given the wisdom to speak and the Holy Spirit is given to all men as we ask. The Lord says “we have not, because we ask not, many are not walking in obedience to the Lord. They are not spending time in His word. They are quoting the words of the world which are nothing. Satan does not bow the knee to this foolishness. And you will always get a ‘thumbs up ‘to this, just like you will when you’re walking in sin. You have a lot of traveling companions but I don’t think you want to arrive at the final destination.

In today’s world it is extremely important that people of faith know what they are up against. We are not to be quoting the “world” but the “Word.” It is the only thing that holds Power! There are so many examples of this. I have learned the word since I was young and any time someone says something that doesn’t line up, that alarm just goes off. It should for every believer. This is the Holy Spirit telling you, that’s not correct and He gives you the word. “In season and out. to “Demolish every Stronghold” Strike it down!

When someone says, “Don’t be so heavenly minded your no earthly good.” Even if they are a well-meaning believer, and they sound like they’re telling you to be pragmatic. Remind them of the Word, which says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Col.3:1,2

You see? God thought it important enough to repeat this twice. And there are many more words to this effect. Yet the enemy of your soul likes to speak worldly words to lull you to sleep and make you believe that you should forget Gods words to you. Many people will speak them to you and they sound good, but their intention is to rob you of your faith. Don’t listen and don’t speak them! Repeat back as the Lord did, with the Word!!!

This is what will save you. Remember, this is your sword! Read Revelation. Every single church He speaks to is promised a reward to “those who overcome.” And it is by The Word of Their Testimony, the Blood of the Lamb, and Not loving their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

In 2 Timothy 4:3 It speaks of a time when “men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead,to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear” Hmmm sounds like a lot of the talk shows to me.

v 4 “They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”

Well, we are most certainly living in these days, when people are seeking after a truth that is convenient to their own lives. But the ultimate guide to this truth must be God’s written word and this is why He authored it for us. He breathed His spirit into us and when we accept His spirit by repenting and asking for Him to “guide us into all truth” He will illuminate our minds to His word.

2Tim3:16 “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

This is all we will ever need!
