The Heart of Our Father

To Be Forgiven

This love is the love that reached down from heaven and gave his only son for us. What kind of love is this?

I’ve had strife in my own family and everyone seems to think that they have an exclusive entitlement to this pain when it comes to hurt and suffering. When it comes to the loss of relationship or divorce, separation, rejection, etc. But no one ever seems to remember what the Lord has done for us. That we turned our backs on Him. That we rejected Him. Oh, yea. Some would say, that’s not even real and they will go about the whole Easter thing, giving their kids baskets with chocolate eggs and rubber tasting chickens and celebrating whatever it is they’re celebrating. To them it’s just another holiday. Not a holy day at all. A day to make crafts or something. The whole meaning is lost. The fact that our God gave His life? Thats just a myth to them.  So it’s  really just another pagan holiday to them and they’re passing down to their kids. Then they wonder when they make those beautifully colored eggs, Then it’s no wonder that they don’t really have a relationship with their kids, or if they do, why the family is such a mess. And even if they have kids, the future fallout will be quite telling. The Lord commands us to “teach our children of His ways.” When we decide to do things our own way and things fall apart, we turn around and blame God, or worse, act as if He doesn’t even exist.
Well let’s take a look at God’s Word, the author of all relationships and see what He says.
In Malachi 4, He speaks about the Day of the Lord, which is coming soon. The family is important enough that He speaks of sending his prophet of a sign of restoration. verse 5; “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse”
Now the reason it is referred to as the “great and dreadful day” is because for those who are  obedient to the Lord, it will be great, but for those, who are not, it will be dreadful.
As He says, He will strike the land with a curse.
When you see this is written before the Lord had come to this earth, we understand that the heart of the Father is to bring reconciliation.
Remember that it was “His only begotten son, that He gave to us.”  For those of us who are parents, it is an unimaginable horror.
But yet, we must now come to this conclusion. The Lord wanted one thing when He sent His son to this earth to be a “ransom for us.” To reconcile us to Himself.
So when He speaks in Malachi of the prophet “turning the hearts of the children to the father, it is not only to reconcile the earthly but to our heavenly Father. This is what Christ’s mission was all about and the reason He became sin.
When I heard of my loved one’s tears for his being ‘cut off’ from his children, I felt a sadness for him and it made me cry in my prayers to the Lord. He reminded me of the same rejection that He felt when He hung on the cross and He felt abandoned by His own Father because all of my sins, and the sins of others were cast upon Him, the spotless Lamb. His Father, being Holy, could not look upon sin.”About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”-which mean, “My God, my God,why have you forsaken me? When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah”
If you understand Passover, you will find this interesting to note that simultaneously, the lambs had been offered in the temple at the same time and was bound on the altar. This was to be a perfect, unblemished lamb, one per family. The High Priest performed the sacrifice in the Most Holy of Holies and this Lambs death would come at the same time as the death of the Lord, at which time the High Priest would speak the blessing over the lamb, “It is finished.” Just as Christ proclaimed of His own sacrifice.
At the Passover table there is always a seat for Elijah the prophet and the door is opened every year to see if he has arrived.
Now the prophet Malachi had spoken of the Spirit of Elijah before the return of the day of the Lord. This is the spirit of reconciliation.
The Father’s love for us is this great and He desires relationship with us, just as much as we cry for relationship with our own children. In fact this is why He has given us the experience of pain and brokenness, so that we can understand what this means to be restored. How He feels longing for us.  and why He sent His son to die. It was this important to Him. He made a way for us to return to Him.The curtain was torn that day in the temple, symbolizing the free entrance for us as children, by the shed blood through His Son. We became heirs to the throne because of Jesus Christ. No longer separated by sin. “but you received a spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry Abba, (daddy) Father. “
He stands  waiting with open arms of love. But He is the only one that can offer this.
When our relationship is restored to Him, then our other relationships will be restored. It is His promise to us.
“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

“He shall be born of a Virgin”

The seed of God

I had a man of Muslim faith sending me extensive emails about the validity of the Quran and why I should believe all that is stated within this book.

He did prove one thing to me. That it is full of contradictions.

It states that anyone that “does not believe in the Quran, is an enemy of Islam.” I asked once again, “who are the enemies of Islam?” He tried to smooth over this portion of the books, which he sent, with flowery words about peace, love and enlightenment.

He agreed that the Quran also states that Jesus is a prophet and would be born of the virgin, Mary.”

I asked him, “if you believe that Jesus Christ is a prophet, then you know that a prophet is a messenger of God Himself and He will not lie. Then how can you not listen to the Words that Jesus spoke about Himself? He said, He and the Father are one. He said, He was the Way the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father, but through Him.”

Now there would be no explaining this contradiction except that one would have to acknowledge one of the following:

  1. Jesus was not a prophet
  2. Jesus was lying
  3. Jesus was crazy
  4. Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be

Now, I told this man that he must decide what to do with this information, if he is going to quote all of these statements to me and try to convince me.

I reminded Him that Jesus did indeed say that, He didn’t come to abolish the law, but to fulfill the Law,” as he pointed out in one of his many quotes. I told Him that Jesus was the perfect law, offered up as a sacrifice for all of us.

As He continued He told me that his proof was Jesus lineage, and you “can see plainly that Jesus was not even in the geneology of Adam.”

Well of course that is true and it proves the whole point of the sacrifice and it  is the validity of Gods Word beginning in the Garden of Eden, when he had to hold sin in account. The sacrifice had to be a perfect sacrifice. (Remember the Jews had to offer an ‘unblemished lamb) God is a God of perfection and the sin would be ‘on the books,’ until a time of redemption had come. Because of one man, Adam, the whole human race fell. This is the reason for the grief we bear. The terrible things that happen. It’s not God punishing us, but quite the opposite. He had a plan to restore us. Our God is a loving God, yet He is also Holy, and sin had to be atoned for, in order for mankind to be able to coexist, once again, with God. Up until the fall, Adam and Eve, walked with God. They had intimate fellowship, but now it had been broken.

The Lord had spoken and told the Israelites in Leviticus 17:11, and told them that “the life of a creature is in the blood, I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar;it is the blood that makes atonement for ones life.”

He had known that Jesus, would be God in human form, to make the atonement, one time for all mankind. It is the knowledge and acceptance of this sacrifice that made atonement for us all.

Of course I pointed out that when Adam sinned, God had a plan in place and He spoke to Eve and the serpent; “I will make enmity between you and the woman, between your seed and hers. You will bruise her heel and she shall crush your head.”

Here I told him, is the plan. God knew that the seed of man had been corrupted by sin. He spoke of the war between “the seed of the serpent, and the seed of the woman.” Well, we know that women do not carry seed, so this was God speaking in future tense. The virgin Mary would be impregnated by God Himself and this way the seed of God had now entered the world. So the virgin birth was not just to be a sign as the miracle, but also the amazing and glorious plan in all of its perfection. It is the reason that the Lord was “examined before Pilate and proven to be without sin.” The perfect lamb and also the reason for John the Baptists exclamation, “behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

When the full atonement had been made with the resurrection of Christ, it was the fulfillment of Gods words to the serpent, “you shall bruise her heel, but she shall CRUSH you head.” As we see in scripture, although Satan tried many times to thwart the plan of God(bruise her heel) and he even thought he did this with the crucifixion, it was Gods plan all along to “Crush his kingdom and at this point Jesus Christ descended into hell and took the keys to sin and death. He preached the gospel those held in darkness, “and led captives in His train.” “I am the First and the Last, I am the Living One; I was dead and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:17,18)

Jesus became the second Adam, but not born of his lineage. He could not be born of the corruptible seed. This seed is perfect and we are all part of this lineage when we can put our faith in Him, the one that made the way for us to enter into that fellowship once again. “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of the imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.(1 Peter1:22)

In the end, this man sent about 10 paragraphs of the Quran and many quotes from Muhammad. I had to tell him that you cannot convince someone to faith, through many words. I cannot be swayed in my faith. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.” I cannot except the things that were spoken by someone that I do not believe to be a prophet. And Muhammad didn’t make himself a sacrifice for anyone.

I do believe Jesus Christ is the Lord of all, it is His words that I believe.

The truth is evident to me, because only truth has the power to change a person. I found the truth, He is Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, of the incorruptible seed of God. He took on the flesh and He is the the ” high priest of a royal priesthood and His kingdom shall have no end.”

And this is why all who believe can say, “Oh death where is thy sting, oh grave where is thy victory?”(1Corinthians 15:55)

How Do We Pray?

spiritual-warfareI see you…

We had the G20 covention and all the world leaders coming together to try to solve the world problems. Most of them were pointing the finger and it seemed to rest heavily on the United States.

The strange thing is that not one of them had this word; Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and PRAY and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their LAND!

Why are people making things so difficult? Most natural men do not know how to pray. Jesus gave a pattern of prayer to start us off. It is to be used as an example. It’s imperative to understand that we don’t repeat it over and over again, as the Lord told us that this is just vain repetition. We must learn how to pray in that manner.

Christ was showing the disciples how to enter before the Father’s throne of grace. Then to ask, that “His will be done.” Well, to ensure that the Lord’s will is carried out it would be clear that you should speak His own words. This is His divine  will and we know Jesus did this when the devil came to tempt Him in the desert.

Each time that Satan began his sentence, it was, “it is written.” So we know that Satan does know the words of God. Of course he does. He lived with the Lord  before being cast down. The problem with his delivery of the word to Jesus, was that he cast doubt on the deity of the Father. He did the very same thing in the Garden of Eden, by questioning Eve, about the God’s Word. Paraphrasing, “come on Eve, did He really say you couldn’t  eat of that tree?” Then of course Eve totally blew it, because not only did she quote the words but she added to them, which is equally deceptive.  Paraphrasing her, Yes, He said we can eat of all the trees, but that one we can’t eat from and we can’t even touch it! ” Hmmm, the devil got ahold of her tongue because she was already lying.

We can see that his schemes do not change. In fact Paul tells us as believers, “that we are not ignorant of Satans devices.” Jesus Christ, being, the living Word, repeated the Word of God back to him and struck down the lies and doubt that Satan was trying to entice Him with.  Now, Jesus didn’t tell him to go back to the place he came from. Nor did he kick his butt. So we must look at how Jesus handled Himself in the midst of spiritual warfare. You fight deception with the truth of God’s Word. You don’t add to it and you don’t take away from it. The Lord said, “the sum of thy Word is truth.”

After you’ve been studying the Word of God long enough, these words will become your everyday speech. You don’t have to quote scripture and verse, although I’ve always admired people that can do so. It is powerful when the enemy comes at you and the Holy Spirit brings the Word forth in your own spirit that strikes down every falsehood. This is why the Lord referred to this as the “sword of the spirit.” Paul said this is how we battle. Not against flesh and blood. Some people are under the control of these spirits and you should pray that they come out and escape the snare of the evil one.(2Timothy 2:26)

As I said, praying the Word of God is very powerful and a great book for anyone that wants to understand this principal is called      Prayers That Avail Much. I’ve had mine for years and it is small but carries a lot of power. Learn it and speak it. God’s Word does not return void. It is powerful enough to save a person’s soul.

Because God created man in His image, we must realize the power our own words carry. He created the heavens and the earth with the spoken word. Now we are in His same image and we know from scripture that there is tremendous power in our words. We can bless and curse, by the power of our own mouth. Scientists have already studied and found that there is much healing power in prayer, although they do not understand why. Well, of course it can’t be analyzed.

I would see how sacred this moment was when I would visit the aids ward in the hospital. People that were all alone at times and seemed to be gripped with the fear of dying. I knew that this was something I had committed to do after my own brother died. I saw miraculous things happening in those rooms. No matter what station of life a person is from, they are all reduced to one common denominator when they are about to meet their maker. One evening I went to see a girl that I had known and she was all alone. As I crossed the threshold I could see terror in her eyes. The oxygen mask on her face and her fear was heavy in the room. I felt the Lord meet me in that room as I grabbed her hands and pray for her comfort. The Lord brought her a peace as I sat with her.

Now when I meet people that have lost loved ones and they are upset because they think they died alone, I can reassure them. That is not always true. You never know what messengers the Lord sends to your loved ones and even at that, he says that the heavenly messengers are dispatched to them.

Prayer can change the course of God’s own plans and we can see this in scripture as well. In Numbers 14:13-19, Moses interceeded for God’s mercy and the Lord heard his cries.

Not only can we alter or halt God’s hand in circumstances by the power of prayer, we also are called, “co-laborer’s of the harvest.” Jesus told us “to pray and ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest field.” It is imperative that we do this before any work is done. “Unless the Lord build the house, we labor in vain.”

Also, before drawing close in prayer we must repent of our own sins. “The prayers of a righteous man avail much.” In the Old Testament the High Priest had to be ceremonially clean before entering into the Holy of Holies. He had to make sure he had no sin that he hadn’t accounted for.  A rope was tied to his ankle as he went about his duties and there was a bell on the rope. The priest’s outside the curtain, thereby knew if he was alive or dead. If he was unclean, the Lord would strike him dead and the priests had the job of pulling him out by the rope. Great job. He moves up to the top of the corporate ladder and steals one matzo and he’s vaporized! Don’t even mention the offering plate. Corporate management should get a lesson on this! Our whole country would change if this was the type of punishment inflicted. Thank God that Jesus Christ became the High Priest when he died on the cross and all of our sins were placed upon Him. This became the dispensation of grace. Yet, this unrepentant sin, still prevents our power in prayer.

Now the pattern of prayer is very simple. The Lord tells us that if we ask anything in His name it shall be given and He also tells us that where two or more are gathered together in my name I am there.  So you see He’s also telling us that since His own resurrection, we need to know that His name is above every name and the access to the Father. Also, He’s telling us that there is tremendous power in unity! This is what Satan most hates for anyone to understand. There is so much power in unity that God Himself took down the tower of Babel and confused peoples languages. He actually came down and saw this tower and said, “if as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then NOTHING they plan to do will be impossible for them.” That is amazing to me! God stated this unity was so powerful that it had to be destroyed. It wasn’t the unity that was a problem, but just as today, they were trying to accomplish something without the need of God. Of course we don’t have to worry because you can’t get Democrats and Republicans to agree on the same things, let alone the whole world! Which brings me back to this summit meeting. The only unity that brings power, is the unity of the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost the Lord filled these men with His spirit and they spoke in different languages  and yet, everyone understood each other! (Acts 2)It was the opposite of what happened at Babel. Babel, was a form of paganism and left God’s plans out. Pentecost was the beginning of allowing God in, by the power of the Holy Spirit as He filled people. This happened because, as it states in scripture, they were in one accord.” Which again speaks to the power of unity.

This is going to happen again and in a more profound way than at Pentecost. Three thousand people were baptised that day. But His promise is that the “latter house will be greater than the former house.” So as the world seeks answers, we pray and in unity for the power of the Spirit to fall on all men. We will pray that all men will come together and invite God as part of the plan. Then as we pray in unity, we will see the miraculous happen!
