Words In Sand

I was thinking about a story in scripture today. It always resonated with me, because of the profound message which the Lord was trying to convey. And when I see people trying to act ‘all religious,’ I immediately think of the woman caught in adultery.

I absolutely loath many portrayals of Jesus, since they take away from His most human side. Yes, He was God in the flesh, but the flesh, is the part that intrigues me most. He was the example. And if He didn’t go around acting superior and holier than anyone, why should we?

Today, someone was telling me about a teenager’s phone calling him, accidentally. This is a person, who goes to church all the time and loves to talk about the misdeeds of everyone else.  They said, “he had such a potty mouth. His friend and him, were talking and I could hear them cursing. I just thought it was terrible. Meanwhile, I know this person is just as bad. Him and the other person, had recorded the call and played it to each other, and talked about the whole episode, as if it was an unforgivable offense. Now he thought, I would agree, that this was just horrible.

I looked at him and said, “You know, it’s not the outside of a cup that makes it clean.” Reading the discourse in Matthew 23, is a picture of the anger, which Christ had at this hypocrisy. He speaks to the blind leaders. The inside is what needs to be clean. Then the outside will follow.

This guy, just didn’t get it. He stared at me with a blank look. I was pointing out that this is not significant, since none of us are perfect. Without calling him out too much, I hoped he understood, that I wasn’t saying, “Oh who care’s if the kid was cursing?” But  my bigger question was, “Why were you listening? Isn’t that an invasion of his privacy? And then you recorded and played it for someone else?”

Then the natural story that came to my mind was, the woman in found in the Book of John 8. When I read, there are always certain words that seem to pop out at me. For example; v3 standing the woman before a group, was humilitating enough. But being caught, in the act of adultery, even more. Imagine this woman’s circumstances. The punishment for this sin was, death by stoning.

But isn’t this what these men wanted to do to her? Flaunt their superiority and decimate her character. And in the end, have the grounds to end her life. But it begs the question, how did they actually catch her in the act? If, they had not been spying on her first?

Ah yes, the argument today would be for the sake of having the proof to accuse her. But now, look at what the Lord does with this information. H bends down and starts to write on the ground with his finger. How odd. Yes, most people would ask, “Why was He doing this?” But to some of us, we wondering, what was He writing?”

I think that He may have outed,  some of those people, without giving names. Perhaps He wrote their, secret sins, in the sand. But the most obvious, was His calm demeanor, during this whole situation. I am impressed with the time He took to respond. It seems, a great deal of time. And He took a break from His writing. He straightened up,  to utter the famous words; Let any one of you who is without sin, be the first to cast the stone.” This is when He stooped down again.

So, it seems He began His preliminary message, and He stood at eye level to the people He was addressing. And this also allowed the best vantage point, along with the group, read His writing. But then he gave them more time and it may be, to include more of the members. He stooped down to write again, which seemed to give the maximum amount of impact.

Now in verse 8;  At this those who heard, began to go away, one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.” This is when He asked her, “Has no one condemned you?” She answers, “No one sir.”  “Then neither do I condemn you.” But the last words to her were, “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

I think about the message of redemption in this story. Condemned to die, because of her sin. The enemy of our soul, is called, “The Accuser.” One of his many titles. And he works through humans to constantly remind us of where we screwed up. What we’ve done wrong. How far we’ve missed the mark.

But Christ came to shed His blood as an offering on our behalf. This sacrifice is the greatest gift of love. His blood has, “cleansed us from all sin.

Our sins are like those words, written in the sand. The Wind of Truth, had blown and the sand shifts. It fills in all those areas of darkness and words that condemn.

He cannot lie. He has already told us, “That as far as the east is from the west, I will remember your sins no more.” This always fascinates me. We are human, and although we try to forgive, we can’t really ever forget. It’s not possible. But for God, it is. So, as I’ve heard it said, “if He’s forgotten, why do we keep reminding Him?”

This is the time of the year to reflect on the awesomeness of His sacrifice and what it really means. Passover, Resurrection Day. It is all about Redemption.

Thank you Lord for your great mercy!

Why Am I So Special?

He leaves the 99 to go after the one

I was still sick the last few days.  In fact I had to bow out of a fundraiser yesterday. But, when I did, I assumed it was because the Lord did not want me there anyway.

I did happen to celebrate Passover and would not fail to give thanks to the Lord for all He had done on this special night. It is so symbolic for all of us, Jew and Gentile and we are approaching Easter as well.

But last night I was coughing all night again and had finished the round of antibiotics and my side was just aching.
I must have most run down immune system in the last few years. I have been to the doctor’s and er more than my whole life. This is getting ridiculous. But now I had gone to an urgent care clinic and after all the medicine was over, I was left with more problems and still no answers. I never had the original doctor actually test for anything.
So today I went right to the hospital non emergency clinic for some answers.
Well, before I went my son and daughter prayed for me. I told them I just felt like crap and I was not able to get rid of that pain in my lungs. They could hear me coughing all the time anyway and I’m pretty sure they were getting tired of It was cute to hear my son saying, “and Lord if my mommy feels convicted about anything, let her know what it is.” Why I outta!” lol (Hmmm, then I did..cause immediately I thought, his dad probably taught him to say that) so of course I had to repent immediately. Geesh! What a battle was going on in my mind while my son was praying.
Yes, I know sickness can come from doors that are opened to the enemy in our lives. Sometimes. If a person is suffering or fearful and they have very   obvious sin in their lives, it’s usually a no-brainer. I say that, however, even after telling some people they do not act in obedience to the direction of the Holy Spirit and then it is called grieving the Holy Spirit. Some people are warned by the Lord and He tells them in scripture, “stop sinning or something worse may happen.” I don’t even make mention to people about this, because it just gets into “shooting the messenger.” This is why the prophets in the Old Testaments were never popular. Always a buzz kill.
But this isn’t always the reason for sickness or tribulation.
Job was a righteous man and remember his friends thought he was being persecuted  by God. The enemy had to receive permission to torment him.His premise was that Job would not be quite so righteous if the Lord didn’t bless Him so much.  So this is not always the case. Sometimes it is a test of our faith. So be careful to bless the Lord at all times.
Earlier in the day I was planting some seeds with my son. He had given me some sunflower seeds and I bought some topsoil. I was raking out the weeds.
I thought of the parable of the seeds and the Lord speaking of ” some seeds falling on stony ground and never taking root. Some fall into the soil and are choked out by weeds.(meaning the cares of this world) Some take root in fertile soil and bear much fruit. He speaks about the seed being planted and the enemy comes to steal the seed the minute it is planted.”
All of this is the word of God as it relates to us. I was really interested in this as I was planting and watching this. I could almost pick out the people in my life that I could compare this to as well. The stony, the weeds, the fertile soil that bore fruit that fed others and had more and more. At one point in my life I looked at “spiritual children”that I had next to me in church and was amazed to see their children and on and on! When the Lord opened my spiritual eyes to this scripture and showed me the true meaning, he reminded me that one day we see all of our fruit that we have ‘born’ for the kingdom when we arrive.
We just keep sowing and planting.
Later my sons dad came over to get him, I told my brother  and my daughter Iwas going to the hospital for some tests and I’d be gone for a little whle.
As I was sitting in the waiting room  there was some kind of turmoil breaking out with a young kid next to me. He was with his mom and dad and he started swearing.
I pulled out a prayer-book that I have in my purse and just began to meditate on some prayers and then I started praying for him and all of the people in the room. I felt the Holy Spirit telling me that I was “preparing the soil.
I saw a man who had been in the other waiting room being wheeled in to this room now. He was staring at me.
Now a police officer was in the room with us and apparently this kid had been the cause of an accident and fled the scene of the crime to come to the hospital. Hmmm, can’t hide from the Holy Spirit. He polices the world. He settled down and the officer told him his options. He still had to leave with crutches.
Now, I’m still praying, praying and something happens. The room, which was full is now empty…except two people. Me and the man in the wheelchair. He stealthily moves from his chair to the chair next to mine.
He moans in great pain and he reeks of alcohol. Whew!
My prayer-book, which is pretty plain. A little book but a bold title…is in hand.
He looks at me and says, “So what are you here for?” haha”Makes me think this is a pattern of behavior for this guy, but whatever the Lord wants.
Now I am starting to realize, that I’m not here for my reasons at all. Yes, that’s right. I’m the Lord’s servant. I go wherever He sends me. Today He brought me here. No, I didn’t have door open except to allow my Lord to send me to Gil. That’s his name.
“Well, I tell him, I went to the doctor and he told me I had bronchitis, but I still have problems with coughing, so I think they have to do x-rays. What about you.”
He tells me”Oh, I was changing the time on a clock and the ladder slipped and I said, wtf?! I fell on my back! ” yes his language was pretty racy even with kids in the room.
“Did the ambulance bring you? “I was going to let them but I decided to drive myself.”
“How could you drive like that? The Lord must have had a legion of angels to protect you,” I said. “Oh, no, I only have one on my right side.” he said
As we continued to talk, he asked me about my life and of course tried the “where’s your husband question.”
Yes,he wanted to know all about my life. I told him about a man who was in prison and he had been so angry and he told me that he didn’t fear men but of the things he didn’t understand he had great fear. This man said, “I can understand that.” Yes, I said, I always thought that was a petty wise statement.
“Hey, do you think I’ve ever been in prison?” He asked me. (Well, I wanted to say, there really isn’t any reason for me to believe you haven’t but I didn’t)
“Have you?”Then he showed me his pinky finger that had been sliced all the way down by the guys when he was released. He was cut down to the tendon and he said “What I did to them wasn’t very nice.” So you returned evil with evil.”
He used some choice words to describe what he did,but in his own way I’m guessing he thought he got his revenge.
At any rate, he was clearly undateable. lol
Seriously, I looked at him and said, do you know I went across the country to see a man before he died? A total stranger.
Another man who was released from prison to give him a birthday cake he’d never had.
At that moment he looked at me as if it had just dawned on him that I was not the woman he had thought I was “you’re not one of those”
“Servants of the Lord?” Oh, yes, when I first saw you sitting in the main lobby I knew it was you.” I told him.
“What?! Why am I so special?”
Now, I saw it…what I see all the time when the Holy spirit touches someone and takes the heart of stone an replaces it with a heart of flesh.
“Because I said, He is the Good Shepherd who leaves the 99 sheep and goes to find the one who is lost.”
“The Lord is concerned about the very least of these and they are the greatest of all to Him.” At this I saw his eyes well up with tears. He wasn’t acting quite as cocky right at this moment.
“Why didn’t he catch me when I fell off the Ladder?”
I started to laugh considering his circumstances, because I was wondering all along if he had been drinking when he was on the ladder, which may have been what cushioned the fall.
“You didn’t die, did you? “No, he answered.
“Well then I’d say He did catch you.  Because, no you didn’t. But He did. die. He died for you.Did you know that?”
“Yes, he said.” As if it really was no big deal. Not as big a deal as him falling off of a ladder anyway.
“I’m Catholic.” Oh, here we go again, with that silly security blanket that can’t do anything for anyone. (A Catholic that also has fallen off of a ladder, hmm…wonder if there’s a saint for that)
“Hey, when you die and stand before the Lord, He sure isn’t going to ask you anything except did you accept HIM  as your savior. PERIOD, END of STORY!!!!
Then he points to his back as if he is a true believer and tells me, ” well I have a tattoo of Philippians 4:13 on me somewhere. It says…Um”
Now I have all the word in me, but I can honestly tell you scripture and verse, I’m not too proficient at, but the Holy Spirit brought it right to the tip of my tongue. And Gil had no idea, what the verse was at all even though it’s written on his own body. I said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” “That’s right!” He said! “How did you know that?””
“Well, you know what? The only weapon of our warfare that does any harm against the enemy is “the Word of God.” You are wearing it on your body. You need to remember this if someone tells you that you need surgery or you are falling. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“Are you bs** me?” “No I”m helping you! Do you remember when Jesus was fasting in the desert for 40 days? The devil came to him and said, “Hey , you’re God, why don’t you turn these stones into bread? And the Lord said what? “It is written, Thou shalt not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God!” So now you have Gods word written on you.  You probably just did it as a fashion statement in prison, but it’s a very powerful tool against your enemy. You have at least one scripture you can use. That’s a start.”
All of a sudden in unison, a woman was banging on the door and a nurse was calling my name. Gil wanted my number, which I was not going to give him.
I would be more than happy to point Him to Christ and to a church, but not engage him in a false hope of following a woman.
He begged please can I have your number. That’s just silly I thought. Like Peter said to the beggar, “silver and gold have I none, but what I have I give to you.’ I mean, I’m offering this man the riches of the kingdom of God and he wants my phone number! I just know that my Lord is laughing with me!
But the Lord will water those seeds if they fell into fertile soil.
My lungs were clear so I thanked the Lord for His healing touch and using me to serve Him any way He chooses.
I started to remember when I had fallen down back in the winter and the little episode with the doctor and his clinic that the Lord had taken me to.
What a strange journey that was and now every time I turn on the news I see another pain clinc being exposed, but it was that doctors day for the Lord to speak. The Lord doesn’t deal with entities. He deals with people. He doesn’t deal with corporations, He deals with souls. And when He does, He sends His servants.
He knows where He sending me because I wont shrink back.
As a servant we must realize that we did not come to this earth to “be served, but to serve.”

Isaiah 53…Read it and Weep!

jesus_37“I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves bitterly for a firstborn son.(Zech 12:10-11 This exact verse is repeated in John 19:37 as the disciples realized that this prophecy was fulfilled with the crucifixion of Jesus.Only the remnant had seen this, but there will come a time when the whole nation of Israel will see His return and mourn as they realize, indeed He is the one who had made the Atonement for all..and they will weep…bitterly.

Remember Jesus had looked over the nation of Israel at one point and mourned for her Himself as He said, “Oh, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. (Mt 23:37-38)

Now as we see what Isaiah spoke almost 700 years before the coming messiah, we understand that this was a nation of people who had seen many people claiming to be the messiah, not unlike the crackpots we have experienced in our own lifetime. For even John the Baptist had to ask Jesus, if He was the one, or if He should expect someone else. And finally, the Father indeed confirmed that Jesus, was His son, “in whom He was well pleased.”

We cannot condemn these people and had it not been for the ‘blinding’ of the Jews, we would not have been ‘grafted’ into the vine, as Paul spoke of in scripture. We have to be grateful for this and the preservation of the words of the prophets and the laws. This was all done with a plan and a purpose to bring them back to the original vine. It is the ‘ingrafting’ and the gentile church is responsible to ”provoke the Jew to jealousy.” This being a Godly jealousy, to make them envy our understanding of the Word and their God. To know that they can now enter into the Holy of Holies, because the temple sacrifice has already been made by the blood of Jesus Christ and the curtain has been torn allowing us entrance.

When we can prove this by scripture, they will mourn the one, whom they have pierced and the blinders shall be removed. As I stated in earlier posts, the first believers were all Jews, yet now the greater following are the gentiles. This will change as we enter into the end times, however, according to the Oracle, by the prophets and the gentile believers are a big part of that movement, so we absolutely need to understand our own Judaic roots.

Isaiah 53

Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

He grew up before Him like a tender shoot and like a root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.

(I find this interesting. It actually states that He wasn’t attractive. So much for the Hollywood version.)

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.

Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,

yet we considered him stricken by God,(just think, He is God! Yet people thought He was being cursed!)

smitten by him, and afflicted.

But He was pierced for our transgressions, (pierced in His side)

he was crushed for our iniquities (crushing blows to the head with a crown of thorns)

The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed(beatings upon his back that pulled the flesh from his back in strips) It’s also interesting to me on Passover that the matzo is pierced and striped, and unleavened which symbolized sin. (another teaching)

We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

each of us has turned to his own way,

and the Lord, has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted.

yet, he did not open his mouth, (He was examined before Pilate and did not speak, although he was found to be innocent)

and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,

so he did not open his mouth.

By oppression, and judgment he was taken away,.

And who can speak of his descendants? (kind of puts to rest any theories about Jesus and Mary.)

For He was cut off from the land of the living;(His death) for the transgression of my people he was stricken.(the penalty for sin)

He was assigned to a grave with the wicked, (two thieves on the cross)

and with the rich in his death,(Joseph of Arimathea donated his own tomb to Jesus)

though he had done no violence, nor any deceit in his mouth,(the thief stated that this man had done no wrong and asked that Jesus take him with Him when He entered into Paradise)

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, (The Lord said, “I lay my life down willingly, only to take it up again!”)

and though the Lord makes his life a guilt offering

he will see his offspring and prolong his days, (everyone who gives their life to Christ, “by faith,” becomes a descendant.)

and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.

After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied, by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and He will bear their iniquities. (The resurrection)

therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors.

For He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

To think that this prophet had spoken this hundreds of years before Jesus had come to the earth, yet they still did not see it. What a perfect plan.

It was the evening before that the Passover meal had been celebrated with Jesus and his disciples and the moment He was on the cross was when the High Priest was slaughter the lamb on the altar in the Holy of Holies, symbolizing the rite of passage and God had torn the curtain in two making it an acceptable sacrifice. This is when the words were spoken, “It is finished!”

When the person saw Christ hanging on the cross and said, “Behold the lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!” He was speaking in plural terms. The exodus from Egypt. The temple. The cross. It all came together at that one eternal moment on the cross. One sacrifice for all eternity, for all mankind. It is finished!

This is why we can apply the blood of the Lamb to the door post of our hearts, by faith, and the Angel of Death Must Pass Over us upon our death. We our guaranteed life eternal because of the perfect sacrifice! Not because of anything we’ve done, but because of what Christ has done for us!

What Is Truth?

Voice of Truth Casting Crownsobject>

The question that Pilate asked Jesus. I was asked this very same question when sitting before a man that claimed to be an atheist, but to me these people just want to be convinced of truth. He seemed very angry at my own circumstances and wondered why I wasn’t angry that the God that I believe in would allow me to suffer so much. “Oh, I know what your answer is going to be,” he told me. Well, of course no answer I give would be sufficient to someone that does not believe, however, I do love to tell people about my faith, because this is what this man seems to be fascinated by. As he pointed out that the Christians did not help the Jews during the holocaust, I pointed out that indeed, many did help the Jews. He agreed. When he pointed out that “those Christians claimed to believe in this or that, and it was contrary to biblical principal, I said, “that’s what they say.” “Yes, that is, but they’re Christians.” ‘No, they’re not Christian’s,”I told him. Everyone that claims to be a Christian is not a Christian, just by claiming to be one. “How about the KKK?” “Oh, they are the worst! Now, how can proponents of hatred,be considered, Christians at all?” Once again, he stated, “that’s what they say.” “Well, that’s what they say! Therein lies the problem and the reason that God gave us His word. It is the guidebook for living. Inspired by His spirit and it is His truth. Not subject to change. It isn’t a convenient truth and it isn’t relative to each person. It is absolute and unchanging. It is irrefutable. The Word of God is alive and it is the same yesterday, today and forever. It has the power to change men’s lives. So, I will stand on this word of truth, no matter, what THEY say. Because THEY are wrong, when compared to God. God never tells man kill men to hate. In fact, Jesus said, “love your enemies, bless those who curse you.” If there are those that are preaching a different message, it is not a Christian but another spirit at work. Remember the Lord spoke about one  who”masquerades as an angel of light in order to deceive.”  (2 Cor 11: 14)Yes, since the beginning in the book of Genesis, he was there in the form of a snake, and he will arrive again in Revelation again to make war with the Lord. Don’t be deceived, wherever there is truth, there is always the counterfeit.

According to the Word of God, the wheat and the tares grow together and the tares will not be torn up until the last day and thrown into the fire. Now if you study wheat and tares it is interesting. They look alike.Even their fruit, except when they are pulled up and thrown into the fire. I’ve always wondered at that. The Lord spoke about this. He said that you would know the true believer’s by “there fruit.” Meaning the fruit of their lives. Your lives would reflect the relationship you have with Him. This in turn would show what is happening around you in every aspect of your life. If your heart is false, He will know. He also said, “my sheep know me. They hear my voice and they follow me. Another voice they will not hear.” Only the true sheep of the Shepherd know what this means because they have heard the voice of the Holy Spirit and this comes with the regeneration by the rebirth. If this has not happened then it is because a person has not entered into a personal relationship with Christ.

This is what brings me to the most important part of this message and the answer to my post; What Is Truth? That really is, Who is truth? Jesus Christ said, I am the way, the truth and the Life, No One comes to the father, but through me.(John 14:6) If you want to know truth, it’s really very simple. You must know Christ. You must repent and ask Him to be your savior.
