Stand for the truth!

Occupy Wall Street. Occupy America. Occupy the World! This is what we are called to do. To stand against darkness, in all its forms. People are sick and tired of being controlled.Being bullied. Hence, the Movement. We have allowed the pyramid to exist far too long. The labor being so mistreated and abused, just so the top echelon can hoard the wealth, through corruption and the laws they have purchased, which allow these practices.  And the 99%, just like the nation of Israel, in Egypt, are  waiting for Moses to shout, “Let my people go!”

Now, I don’t believe in any violence, to persuade people. It has never been successful. Jesus, was taken with violence, in the Garden of Gethsemane, and Peter, in his fear and anger, cut off the ear of a guard.

The words Jesus used, “Peter put away your sword! He who lives by the sword, shall die by the sword!” Yes, the sword. It has been used for ages as a means of getting the point across. Excuse the pun.

But, for the masses, who are growing, against greed and corruption, I can say, it’s having an impact, and it’s becoming more powerful each day. As I said before, just the fact that the media tries to marginalize, what is happening, is proof in itself, but if you need more, look at their latest mascot, David Duke.

Yes, I said, their mascot. The poster boy for racism and hate. Their sword. Now remember, how media is used, to manipulate people. Why else the focus on a proponent of everything evil? A KKK, member? And his slurs against the Jews, as his reasons for, preaching the merits of the OCW, movement? Does this repulsive man forget that many Jews, are part of the 99%? So are many Black’s,Hispanics Asians, Caucasians, etc. Please. This latest ploy by media should make it obvious, again, that OWS, is successful.

This guy is nothing but a double-agent for the other side. He is despised by almost all the public. The pyschological trick is that the ones backing him, hope we would all be so disgusted, we’d cut ties with the movement all together. “If they have someone like supporting OWS, I sure don’t want to be associated with it!” This is what the planned strategy is, to scare people off.

The 99%, does not include him. He’s in a class of his own And this is how he likes it. He hates people, which disqualifies him from a movement of unity. Now let’s dissect this latest effort, by media to turn people away from the gains on the fight on Wall Street.

I don’t know about you, but when I watch shows like Survivor, I always stop myself before getting to caught up in the ‘reality,’ scam. I ask, “Hey, if that guy is so hungry, why doesn’t he ask the camera crew for a sandwich?”

Yep, and that’s what most tend to forget, when they’re being mesmerized, by the drama. You need to stop and analyze. The media, is owned by the powers, which OWS, is protesting against, so why would it surprise anyone that they would use a person, like David Duke,  to promote a message? And of course he’s going to say he stands with us. And hey, who pays David Duke, to make his bizarre rantings? And why? Once again, the easiest way to make people feel repulsed and want to disassociate with the movement, is to shove someone like, him, out into the forefront, as a supporter of Occupy Wall Street. Exactly as they did, last week, with the woman in Los Angeles. Ranting against the Jews. Nice try. We’re not falling for this.

And now we see, once again, that some powerful people are running scared. To give media time to a white supremacist? This guy didn’t ever deserve 15 minutes of fame, let alone, another chance to rant.

Keep your eyes wide opened people! And just recognize that the power of the masses, is continually growing, and the more nonsense like this on radio and television, should tell you, to keep standing for truth!

Embracing My Inner Cheese

Welcome to Milwaukee!

I just went back to Milwaukee. It’s where I was born and raised. I appreciate it more, each time I visit.

Who wouldn’t love this place? The staple food’s are, cheese, brats, and let’s not forget….beer. It’s the place where the field trips are to the museums, festival’s and breweries.

I didn’t appreciate it so much, until I’ve gotten older, and seen more of the world. I felt I was stifled, in a sense. When I first moved away and started my flying career, I was always met with, “Are you from Wisconsin?” Not so strong an accent anymore. But what touched me more than this, was the response, “Oh, people from Wisconsin are so nice!” I have found that this is true. When I go back, I’m aware of the difference in culture. The people are so approachable, and are more than happy to help others.

Of course, my irritations, in my younger years, has been replaced by a feeling of endearment. I was envious of cities, with current fashions. Since Milwaukee seemed to be about 4 years, behind the curve. The fashion hasn’t changed one bit, since I was a teenager. Which means, you don’t have to spend a lot on clothing. It’s a standard pair of jeans, a flannel shirt, and boots, or sh**kickers) as we used to call them.

I seemed to be an alien, as I would not abide by those dictates. I had my own style and refused to be bound by the opinions of my peers. I still remember a friend, who had given me a pair of his camouflaged pants from the military. I wore these with a red turtleneck to Oktoberfest, in LaCrosse. The streets were littered with beer, paper cups and a mob of college students. The sneers of the girls told me, I was not following the rules. I didn’t care. I loved it, that I seemed an alien from another planet.

I hated it when I would tell people where I was from and they would say, “Oh, you have a lot of cows there, don’t you?” I never saw cows, unless, I went into a town. It’s not as if Milwaukee was a big farm. Yet, this is the impression that most people had.

I worked downtown and it was a city, like any other. I loved the feel of this city. In fact, when I did finally visit my friend, who had moved from Milwaukee to New York, she said, “It’s like a big, downtown.” She was right. New York, felt exactly like our downtown, only bigger. And, as I said, they actually had the latest fashions, displayed in their storefront windows.

But, still, I couldn’t help but laugh, when I walked through the General Mitchell Field Airport, and saw the souvenirs. One t-shirt, “Nothing tips like a cow,” with a cow, lying on its back.  I bought it for my daughter, as she’s in the service industry. She thought this so funny and said, her friends, are going to crack up when they see it.

The truth is; I never saw anyone tip a cow. I didn’t even hear of any friends doing it, until I had a trip down to Ormond Beach, Florida. We were visiting a friend. Her brother was going out with his friends, to tip cows. They asked if we wanted to go, cow tipping. I didn’t believe it at first. I sure was too afraid to do that, and thought it was pretty mean. Now, I’m not a vegan or anything. And I don’t mind eating burgers, but come on. The poor things are asleep and they get knocked over. I secretly hoped that a bull was standing nearby to give them a run for their money.

I seemed to notice new things all around me, which I’d never seen before. I loved the old blue, fire/police call boxes. I had to get a picture. my cousin told me that these are being stolen. “What? Who can steal something this big?”

When I was a kid, we heard that if you pulled one of these, a dye would cover your hand, which could only be detected with a black light. In my neighborhood, they were constantly going off. I can only wonder, what in the world, anyone would do with one of these, in their home. Probably use it for a clothing rack, like I do my treadmill.

I was talking with a guy who used to coach my son’s baseball team, yesterday. He’s a firefighter. “Hey, I said, I have a picture with one of those old call boxes, for the fire department. I showed him, the picture, with the blue box. He then pulled up a picture on his phone. There he was standing with two other guys, next to a red one. “This one is from Boston,” he said. My buddies are also, firefighter’s, and when we go somewhere, and we see them, we pose next to it.” I laughed, that I thought I was the only one who noticed these antiques. Now I’m wondering if he has one in his house as well. Being used as a coat rack or something.

Now one of my favorite things, in Milwaukee, is Leinenkugel. I actually put a bunch in my suitcase once, just to ship back to myself. I can’t find these, where I live. I remembered, having a trip to Germany and going to a beer garden. I had a banana beer, which was pretty good. I went straight from there to Milwaukee, where I visited the state fair. I had marveled at the strong German influence. It seemed I never left Germany. I had a Leinenkugel for the first time, in Milwaukee, and have loved them ever since. They have, berry, lemon, and wheat. I love the flavored ones. As I was sharing this with my friend, he said, “Oh, I have a lifetime supply.” “What?” I was asking how I could become a member. “Oh, I won this.” He said. But you have to go to the Leinenkugel Lodge, to get them.” “Wait a minute. There’s a lodge for Leinekugel Members?” “Yea, he said, it’s in Chippewa Falls.” Geesh! “Only in Wisconsin.

Now I realize, why my daughter made the remark when she was very young. “All people in Wisconsin do in the winter, is stay in the house, smoke and drink beer.” I laughed so hard at that statement, as this was the impression she had, and it wasn’t too far off.

Now, I don’t mean to brag, (Bragging Jackass), but gotta love them Packers! Come on. Undefeated? They continue to shock and awe. No one plays like they do, and the fans are the best.

I went to a real Milwaukee bar, on Saturday night. My cousins friend was celebrating his birthday, and there were a bunch of Harley’s out front. I was amused to see the middle-aged biker’s all over place. But, they knew I was a transplant. They could tell that I’d lost a little cheesie-ness. Some big people live in Wisconsin. I attribute this to all the dairy and beer. As I looked around, the guy had a ton of food and they’re not embarrassed to pig out. I got to watch the Badger’s play, and they got ripped off, at the end of the game. Coming from behind to tie it up, only to have a bad call in the end. Hey, that’s my opinion after watching the replays. The bar went crazy. “This is the life,” I thought. In a bar in Milwaukee, surrounded by biker’s, watching the Badger’s game. The only thing I could have asked for is that they would have gotten that call right. Because we all know, Wisconsin won.

My cousin complains about the girls being to big. But hey, they have to keep warm in the winter. Besides, my cousin, isn’t very small himself. At one point, he pointed out his picture window and said, “Hey, there goes a Milwaukee hot guy!” The guy was huge, with a flannel shirt, jeans and his sh**kicker’s.

The bars, have something for everyone. Dry Hootch, is a place on my list. They are ready to welcome all the soldiers back from war. Brady Street, is where all the action is. And on a trip to Milwaukee, these are my old stomping grounds.

I watched the Occupy Milwaukee march, with pride. The whole movement had its inception with Wisconsin and Ohio. My people, are always ready to fight the powers. I still have that in me. The friendly people of the Midwest, have a true fighting spirit, when you back them into a corner. It’s a toughness, developed by the hard-work ethic, and tempered by the spirit of empathy.

As I share my experiences with my children, I always remind them, that they are not, cheeseheads, in the true sense of the word. But they are, processed cheese. And mixed with my stepchildren, we are now more of a blended cheese. They have the cheese inside, and it’s not something you can ignore.

I have finally arrived at a place in my life, where I am proud to be part of The Cheesehead Nation. I understand why my mom, keeps saying, “I want to go back to Wisconsin.” Dorothy was right, “There’s No Place Like Home!”

Don’t Back Down!

Hey Occupy Wall Street, don’t be distracted and don’t fall for media focus on the negative.
This latest news about the woman in LA, spouting anit-semitic remarks, is just one more reason, that is being exploited to shine a negative light on the 99%.
We have real issues on the table and the proof is the pitiful attempts to discredit the whole movement.
This is enough to prove that this movement is scaring the movers and shakers into action.
The reports I had seen on FOX news, the other day, was ridiculous. Their attempts to portray the OWS people as dirty hippie, drug addicts, was beyond silly.
All it did was make me see, that OWS, is intimidating, the 1%, and I have to believe that it’s just going to grow.
Now, after reading this statement by the woman of ignorance, ranting against the Jews, I have to wonder, of all the people, why did they interview her?
I think it’s pretty incredible to see this many people organize in agreement in one place, let alone cities across the country, and even the world.
There is great power in unity and of course, those who would try to destroy this unity, must thrust a divisive person into the forefront.
It’s not going to work.
I had a union doing the same thing to our member, once. They kept telling us that “we need to stand together!” As they still tried in vain to lead all of us, with intimidation and scare tactics.
I responded, “Well, they’ve finally succeeded in bringing us all together, AGAINST THEM!”
The reports of the oddball, here and there, throughout this movement, (perhaps even plants), would only serve to strengthen the bond of the people.
I have yet to march, but I stand with the 99% and I’m ready. Why wouldn’t I?
This is historical and we are a democracy. This is the purest form of democracy.
We are the majority, injured by corruption. We are the ones who bring about change.
Now the Lord reminded us of our power, when we agree. He has spoken of this all through His word.
He spoke of this, same experience in Genesis, with The Tower of Babel. “If people agree, with one mind and one language, then nothing, that they seek to do, will be impossible to them!”
That’s right. One mind, and one language, is true unity.
And we have all the power of the universe at our disposal, with this one-ness!
Stay strong and Don’t Back Down!

They Put the ‘Special’ in Special Ed

Now I’m really getting tired of these stories of Special Education, teacher’s making fun of their students.

This is a very unique job and one which requires people with compassion and sensitivity. I know. My brother was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. He would appear completely ‘normal,’ accept, he has the mentality of a young boy and he has a slight gait, due to cerebral palsy. Oh, and his vocal cords were severely damaged, making it almost impossible for people to communicate with him.

He is a sweet loving person. Innocent as a child can be. Which also makes him, very easy to exploit. He had many along his journey, who have taken advantage of him. He has scars on his arms from serious burns he experienced, and still it’s difficult for me to determine what happened and by whom. He explains in his best language, which I can understand. He was working at his job at Pizza Hut. They had him washing the dishes, (which he shouldn’t have been doing.) He had some kind of a spray washer and it was scalding hot. It burned his arms and he was taken to the hospital. He tells me, “They gave me shots. It hurt.” I always get very upset when I hear this.

I know he lived in a small town, before I went to bring him home to live with me. In this town, there was an organiztion, which claimed to be, A Supportive Living organisation. Which basically meant, they would take all the people with special needs and cram them into little apartments. They had a couple ‘caseworkers,’ check on them at some point during the day.

My brother lived with a guy named, David He had a bad temper, and repeatedly abused my brother. I only found these things out, by talking with the other people in this apartment building. One woman told me that my brother was so sick. And she called the agency to have them take him to the doctor. They refused and she took him herself.

I was furious to find out about all of these things. Incident reports are supposed to be filed and family notified. But these poor people have had their basic human rights, stripped away. I see a long scar on his back and wonder at this as well.

Since I was a young girl, I had grief at the loss of my brother to a state institution. He was placed later with a loving family. Then he was placed again, in a group home. I had visited the group home, many times. I liked the people running this home. They were loving and my brother and other resident’s loved it.

Then it was closed, to begin the grand scheme. The supported living, was nothing more than a cover for a money laundering scheme. They had all of them sign up for funeral trust funds and started placing the funds into them. A bunch of attorney’s and tax exempt specialists. Using my brother and others like him, as their cash cows. One scam after another and never stopping to think about the care of their wards. They were just throw-aways.

I am getting very upset at the manner in which people treat them. When I stepped into an elevator at the courthouse yesterday, a woman was talking to her friend about something. She said, “That’s so retarded!” The hair stood up on the back of my neck, and short of glaring at her with an angry remark, I bit my tongue.

How can ignorance come to an end when even, people who claim it’s racist to mention color, make songs, referring to being retarded? Unless someone actually has a loved one who is mentally challenged or has some disability, there seems to be no empathy.

After reading this story today, I wondered, why would these people devote time to careers which involve people with ‘special needs,’ when they don’t even like them? It breaks my heart to hear these stories.

It seems to me that an appropriate punishment for these teachers and so-called, professionals, who have exploited their students and wards, should be placement in a ‘special education class themselves. A place where they would see how truly ‘slow,’ they are. That they have no grasp or concept of what ignorance really means. The word retarded or mentally challenged. If they truly understood, they would realize that it applies to their own behavior.

The special needs, which my brother has and everyone like him, are the need for love and compassion. Everything else falls into place, when those needs are met. And those needs aren’t just reserved for people who are like you and me.

My brother has a companion who comes to take him to his social functions. I feel so blessed, because she is a woman who has chosen this profession because of her desire to make their lives better. There are some who only choose these professions because of pay. Well, I have news for these people, if that’s the motivation for entering this ‘very special,’ field. There won’t be enough pay to satisfy. Without passion for people like my brother, they are going to be miserable and make his life miserable as well.

As a man reminded me the other day, “If you love what you’re doing, you never work a day in your life.” My request for all of you is, to please choose another line of work. Stay away from these very special people.

I’m also speaking as a word of warning. The Lord told us; “The least of these are the greatest in the kingdom of God. A time is coming when the ones who have brought harm to these people, will give account.

After posting this, I saw another horrible article about someone abusing these people. This certainly seems to be an epidemic. And yes, I’m positive it was for their Social Security payments. I believe the government needs a special task force, to investigate all of these people and the money trail. At the end, I believe they will find fraud in the majority of cases.

Frampton “stay’s alive!”

Peter Frampton 70'swell I went to see Peter Frampton, last night. I went alone. I just didn't want the hassle of trying to round up people, with the same music taste as me. I thought, this is such a nostalgic tour, for me, that I wanted to experience this. The last time I saw him, it was on the lakefront grounds, of Lake Michigan, in Milwaukee.I was with my brother, and we were right up front. It was an incredibly beautiful summer day, and seemed magical. Just to watch and listen to this great artist. Not to mention, every girl my age, lusted after him. Those beautiful golden locks and bright smile. My girlfriend reminded me the other day, that she had a poster of him on her wall and even named her dog, 'Frampton,' in his honor. As I stood in line to enter the building, I was amused at the sight of 50 to 60 somethings, waiting very patiently. I thought at the wildness of the concert in the 70's. The pushing to get forward in the crowd.Well, it wasn't violent, but just the excessive desire to be one inch closer to the front, lest we miss anything. Now, everyone stood with the courtesy of people in a bank line, waiting for a teller. Then I listened to the conversation of a in front of me. "Man, the last time I saw Frampton, it was 35 years ago."I had to laugh at that, as he certainly must have realized, it was the same story for all of us.As I found my seat, I was sitting next to a guy with long hair, to his shoulders. I thought, "gee, this guy is a true refugee from the 70's." But he didn't look to be as old as the rest of us.He introduced himself. "I'm Michael," he told me. I offered my hand to shake. Even this little gesture, has changed, I thought. Back in the day, we would grab each other's thumbs, in a signature, shake, which we believed, had changed the course of history. Our interactions, marked our era. Those handshakes, became more and more bizarre, as time went on. Now you have fist-pumping, and people bumping fists to watch them explode. Everyone decided to tweak our handshake, to make it their own.Michael, told me that he is in a band. "Hmm, you don't say. I would have never guessed by the look, he's carrying. Typical hair band, kinda guy.He told me he wasn't quite old enough to see Frampton, the first time around. So he was ecstatic, to be here.He shared that he'd started playing drums, right when Frampton, was making his tour, 35 years ago.He was a little nervous, because he was supposed to be in the row behind me, and scammed the seat next to me. All I could think was, "come on," if your going to scam a seat, get way up front, like we used to." Or perhaps he never learned these tricks.I shared with him that the last concert I went to was with my daughter, and I ended up in the middle of a mosh pit. Being slammed all over the place."Yea," he said, "these new bands aren't like the concerts in the past. I don't get that whole thing. Everyone pushing and shoving."I said, "I know, I was almost crushed to death. And you couldn't hear the music, cause you were too worried about your life!"We started laughing, as I shared that I told my daughter, "there's no way that these are hippies!""Yea," all of our people were too wasted to think about wasting there energy like that!"Now, I heard a couple guys behind me talking. "Haha! Yea, now we complain. Hey, the air conditioning is too cold! I have to leave to use the bathroom...again. Wow, the music is a little loud, let me turn down my hearing aid!"I was cracking up as I looked back and saw, they did indeed, look to be in their 60's.We all shared a common bond. Now, Peter Frampton comes out to play. All I can say is that he is incredible.I was so grateful for technology, as I didn't have the greatest seat, and I sure wouldn't employ my tactics from the past, to run up to the stage. There were two, huge screens, on each side of the stage, along with one in the center.Pictures of him from his youth, flashed across the screen and we were all reliving the past, with him.I loved being able to see his fingers, deftly playing different chords, and the unique signature of his music. And, I am not embarrassed to admit, even in his aging, he still looks very attractive. Behind the white, receding hair, I saw those same twinkling eyes, and beautiful smile. But it was his own humor, which makes him, more attractive. Then I started thinking, "Would I find this artist attractive, when I was at his last concert, in the 70's?"I wondered at this phenomena. How do we begin to like, 'old people,' according to our age?I mean, if he would have entertained us in the 70's, as the man he is now, we wouldn't have noticed how gifted he really is. I would have just thought, "That's an old guy, who can play a guitar." Is this a part of maturing? The ability to see the person inside? How is it now, I see him as an attractive man, when, it seems just a few short years, ago, I would have been saying, "Hey, that old dude is pretty good."It's weird. It's like God just ages our mind, by continuously putting our own age around us, so that we get used to seeing them and we can get past the grey hair, etc. and only see the youth inside. At one point, he said, "Ok, in the past. This is when we would have had an encore, left the stage to do drugs." Then everyone laughed. Now, He said, "we don't leave. And we only do prescription drugs, from our doctors."He also said, "I'm so excited to see all of you here. Especially since, now we only play for small clubs and birthday parties."That I simply don't believe. It was packed. If he had any doubt that he still has followers, he didn't after last night. We have a true need, to hold on to our past. The things which made us the happiest. And he was part of that. And he still is.He changed the lyrics to one song, when he sang the first verse, "Your love makes my hair stand on end," became, "Your love makes me grow hair on my head!"Gotta love him! He takes his age in stride. But any guitarist worth his weight in gold, would look at Frampton with the ultimate respect. He is still a force to be reckoned with. Thanks, Peter Frampton, for "Coming Alive!" for all of us, and mostly, for keeping your light burning brightly! Then and nowThen and now

Back to Work Program, Hire A Mascot!

Ok, come on, Miami?! Seriously? The new Marlin Baseball stadium, seems to have all the bells and whistles, but what Oh my gaudy! What in the world is going on with this new ‘art’ in the middle?  Is this to attract people? Already, people are weighing in, with negative comments. This is ridiculous. It is a huge, display of neon, in an attempt to dazzle. Some have compared it to pinball machines, Vegas, etc. You get the picture. The only thing that was missing, was the neon pink flamingo’s. I suppose, to have gotten the opinions of the public, potential fans, would have been out of the question?

Not buying it. And evidently, neither is anyone else. It was designed to be a nice attraction. But, for the price of 2.5 million? Why couldn’t we put a dent in the deficit? Better yet, why not poll the public for ideas first? Oh no. That sounds like an argument I have about my union, at work. Heaven forbid, you really have to listen, to ideas from people whose interests you should represent. That would negate all those nice bucks your shoving into your own pockets.

Oh, I didn’t just diss my union, did I? Well, let’s move on. We have OWS, to handle this. And by the time we’re through, we just may have some better ideas, including the implementation for stadiums, which would cut down on the spending considerably. And I have no doubt, offer a lot more fun.

Now, I don’t want to brag,(Bragging Jackass), but, how about looking at ‘all things Wisconsin, for your marketing strategies? No, we are just common folks, but let’s compare. Milwaukee Brewers. Hmmm, when there’s a home run, Bernie the Brewer, slides down a slide. We all get to watch on the screen, and some of us, can see him. If you’re close enough. Oh, that doesn’t sound cool? I guarantee, after a couple of beers, and getting all hyped up for your team, it’s astounding!

Now, you absolutely, have not lived, until you’ve seen, the sausage race. That’s right, people. It is a highlight. I actually got to go down to the field, the day of the race, with my brother and my son. They loved it. Talk about, audience engagement.

There is a story, I still recall, about one of the Brewer’s taking a swipe at a sausage, as they came around the bend. Come to find out, it was a young girl inside, the costume, and the Brewer, was in some boiling hot, sausage brew, after the game.

Ah, those poor, mascots. It always made me think, that they should, indeed, have a union, to protect them. Kind of the bun, if you will, to keep them cushioned from the blows.

And let’s not mention those Packers! We are the only culture, who are not afraid to don the cheesehead! Now, it only seems to make sense, that these teams, and the people, should be followed. If it’s been working for us, for all these years, jump on the bandwagon.

And let’s not forget, all the people that we can use, by the use of these mascots, and not an inanimate object, cluttering up the field. I think we should have a marlin, manatee, shark, race. There, that’s three people, with a job offer, already. And I’m betting this could be a highly prestigious position. Replace, all the celebrities, of this world, with mascots. Perhaps they could name them, such as they did, Bernie. I’m thinking, Merlin the Marlin. I know, I know, we already have a Billy. But Merlin, has a nice ring to it.

When you are in your social circles, and people ask, “Hey what do you do?” And you respond, “Well, I’m Merlin the Marlin! It would be instant recognition. Like, Cher. No explanation needed. Asking for autograph’s and pictures. All the marketing. Just think about it. Believe me, these people will remember you long after, Kim Kardashian!

I’m not into anything fancy. Just a good time. And isn’t that all that we want, when we come to a game? What do you think?
