Whose Afraid Of the Big,Bad Wolf?

I’m Not afraid

I remember years ago when some friends of mine shared a commuter apartment with me in San Francisco and I would return from my trips to Florida. I had a vital church that I belonged to and they loved to hear about my latest bible studies. I was amazed at number of girls that I had that were starting to gather

One evening they had decided they wanted to attend a church that I had found in San Jose.(Jubilee ) I was shocked. There were about 6 of them and that’s quite an accomplishment to get that many together at one time as it is, let alone to go to church. So off we went and the rest was just incredible.
I witnessed nothing short of miracles. Changed lives and it was all the Lords work to be sure. One girl actually married one of the men she had met in the church. Another girl had gone on several mission trips to Russia.
Then Jan, shared and experience that she had with me that I still remember. She and I used to sit out by the pool and talk. She had been counseling with a minister. Her husband and her had gotten divorced.
I talked to her about the power of the Holy Spirit and the difference between religion and a relationship and when filled with th Holy Spirit, you are empowered and born again.
She began coming to this church and one day she told me she was in Miami on a layover. She said, “You wouldn’t believe what happened to me! We all went out to Coconut Grove and there was a woman reading palms. She said, ‘Everyone…except  you! And she pointed straight at me!” she said. The whole crew looked at me like, whats so special about you? “Then I remembered what you told me about the Holy  Spirit. How those dark spirits cannot touch us, unless we invite them in. I just couldn’t believe it. All day people were asking me why that woman said that to me. It was so funny.
But this is how the Lord confirms His word to us. This is how He shows us his protection over us. He tells us to practice these things is an abomination to Him, yet He will guide us by the power of His spirit and show us the right way.
This girl, Jan, reunited with her ex husband  and had a baby girl years later.
It’s like the time I was in a hotel and my friends and were in the bar while some guy was walking around claiming he could read your palms and tell you your future.
I laughed and declined of course only to find that this man was the manager.
Later I walked up to my room with my girlfriend. She found she didn’t have a phone in her room. As she came in my room to call downstairs, I said, gee, don’t you think when the manager was reading your palm he should have seen that?”
That’s why, as they say”rather than worshipping the stars, I’d rather worship the One who created them!”

P.T. Barnum Was Right!

Pink headband

You just can't win

I think I figured this one out when I was pretty young. I used to buy those Legg pantyhose and without a doubt there was a run in them the very first time I put them on, but what a surprise, a coupon inside good for another pair. I was cynical already at 13. I told my gf’s this is very suspicious and I believed that they probably placed little pinholes in those panythose so that they would run immediately. I mean I put them on just the way they instructed, and no matter how delicate, they would run. But they had great advertising campaigns and came in those cute little eggs that everyone wanted, so of course we would go buy them again.

Yesterday, I had to have my car fixed. This car has been nothing but trouble since day one, but it’s been making a lot of noise for months now and since the engine light just went on after I also placed 4 quarts of oil in the other day, I thought, it’s time.

I can’t stand this more than anything else, because most people know, auto mechanics will find all kinds of things wrong with your car, even the things you didn’t ask about.

Well, I told them the problem and they said they’d call back later with some answers after the $90 diagnostic was complete. It was a tensioner belt, and I needed new tires on the back, which I knew as well. “Go ahead, but the cheapest ones are fine, since I don’t really know how long I’m going to keep this car.”

He tells me the engine light is due to the transmission and will have to be taken to another place that specializes in transmission. It may be minimal, or it may not, but he suggested I do it as soon as possible.

I pick up my car later and my ex husband drives it for a while. He is telling me the rpms are way out of whack. He understands this a lot more than I do and he also happens to have the same car. Then he says, “your tires are really wobbly too!” He gets out and looks at them. He sees that they look like they have been balanced, but they are not feeling balanced. “Maybe one is defective he says.”Next, my a/c is blowing hot and cold and now I’m furious!

“You know, I’m sick and tired of taking something in to get it fixed and getting it back in worse condition.” So, now I call the guys and they tell me to bring it back. Here’s another day wasted, I’m thinking.

By the time I bring it back the guy is telling me all kinds of stories about the a/c. How it just happened to go out at that time. What a coincidence. Of course it had nothing to do with them. Then he gives me a list. Now here we go, I’m thinking. Here some other things we sabotaged, er I mean we noticed, Now he proceeds to tell me all of these things that are “potential safety issues.” He used the words “Potential safety issues,” so many times, to put fear into me. I was assuming this was part of their training to sell, sell, sell!

He told me my Struts were really messed up. It took me back in my mind to a Strut your stuff, contest I  had won, when I was younger in a bar. I had won the whole Bob Seger album collection for having the best Strut for the song, Her Strut. At the end of the song I did the splits. Now my mind returned to the mechanic as he was using his screwdriver to pull all this dusty grime out of the “struts,” as he was telling me there was no cushioning left here. Hmmm, I thought, that is just like my struts. And I wonder what Bob Seeger is doing these days. I bet he’s got one of those handicap parking stickers in his car.

Then when he got to the wobbly wheels I naturally thought of my shoulder.  Tensioner belt, sounding all too familiar.

The transmission. is a little messed up.The inner workings of this vehicle running everything. Well, I guess I’m just going to have to put more into this thing to keep it going, until I think it’s time to give up.

I’m just glad that the Lord doesn’t give up on us.

Why Would You Go Back To the Law?

There is a choice

There is a choice

We keep doing it, over and over again, without ever realizing it. It’s so subtle. Yes, as Bob Dylan said, “The enemy is subtle, how be it we are deceived? When the truth is in our hearts, and  we still won’t believe? Shine Your Light, Shine Your Light On Me!(Precious Angel) We keep returning to the law,  which cannot save.

Now do you think that the Jews are any different from any religious system of works? They were chosen because they were the only nation that believed in the one true God. All of the other nations followed pagan gods. This is why God had to preserve them as His people and made covenant with them. He alone gave them all of these laws. And this is what bound them to Himself. He had to preserve them as His own to bring the messiah through them. God will not take back His covenant, nor deny Himself.

The Jews were blinded by hundreds of laws. Don’t you remember? They were handed down from God Himself . Were they given just to amuse Himself? Absolutely not. They all had a purpose. Here’s an example of one of the hundreds. The two goats. Only one was to be used on the Day of Atonement. The scapegoat, was released after the sins of the nation of Israel had been placed upon its head. It is of course where we get the term, “scapegoat,”  It is also the reason that you will see so many demonically inspired uses in the artwork today. I’m amazed after it had been pointed out to me. A picture of sin. An innocent animal left to die. Hmm, interesting picture.

Now all of those laws. So many and a lot just didn’t make much sense. They all were types and foreshadows of messiah. Yet, when Paul spoke he clearly reminded the Jews that if they chose to go back to the law, they would have be judged by the law and if they violated one, they violated the whole of the law. He said that “the laws had  to been given,  to point us to our need of a savior!.

Indeed, we had no desire to sin until the law was given!” Oh, I love that! Just look at Adam and Eve in the garden. Oh, better yet. Look at a little child and their innocence…until you tell them they can’t touch something. That’s when that rebellion rears it’s ugly head. Now remember how the Pharisees chastised Jesus for healing a  man on the Sabbath? How preposterous was that? He IS the sabbath! He had to ask them if it was easier to forgive the man or heal him? Then he told him to pick up his mat and walk? He was always rocking the proverbial boat of the religious leaders, but yet He was the leader and they were so blinded with religious pride, couldn’t see Him. I thought it humorous and sad.

“The law of sin and death is in the flesh.” We are born into sin but thanks be to Jesus Christ who has set us free from the law of  sin and the grave! Now, when we look at all of the man-made doctrines it is a subtle way of taking us back to the law, once again. Trying to earn our way. We must do as Paul told the Bereans to do. Question everything by scripture. My pastor taught me to do this in my church and one day I had to even do this with him once. I have great respect for him, yet the Lord commands us to line everything up with His word.

When I was in the Lutheran church I started to question the spiritual leaders. I realized that Martin Luther had split from the Catholic church because he discovered they had not been teaching from scripture the fundamentals, “that we are saved by grace not by works.” Of course there was the Reformation and many people realized that only the leadership  had a bibles, and Martin Luther found one, hidden away and saw these truths which began the split. We know that one “comes to faith by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” So that changed the whole course of history, but then the Lutheran’s also erred. They also became legalistic. No different from the Pharisees of old. I wanted to know God. I didn’t care about any man’s religion. I could see as a young girl who Christ never stood in the midst of crowds and stated, “now look guys I want you to be Baptists, you to be Catholics and you to be Jews.” And Jesus was a Jew for good reason. Born into the nation of Israel. God didn’t make a mistake. I wanted to understand this convenant.

Another thing that I noticed as a young girl was that the only time Jesus seemed to have a problem was when he was confronted by those religious guys.He really didn’t spend very much time inside the temple. Here I was seeing the same thing with religious people. And when I went with my girlfriend to see Jesus Christ Superstar, something powerful happened watching that crucifixion scene. I noticed that the doctrines in my church became more ritualistic and I started to question them as a young girl. I saw things in my bible that weren’t being taught.  Perhaps because these leaders didn’t understand. I saw Nicodemus go to Jesus and ask him how he could enter the kingdom of heaven. I heard Jesus tell him plainly, “unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” I wondered at this and many other things that were spoken. I wondered what made our religion, “right,” and everyone else s wrong.

Then, something happened to me. A spiritual experience. It was so noticable that a pastor called me in to speak to me about it. He wanted to know. But how could he explain it? They all went to seminary, but were never taught that to be ‘born again,’ is an experience that the Lord was telling Nicodemus must happen to each person if they are to enter the kingdom of God. We must become like a child before this experience takes place. It is not a religion and we cannot keep the laws. We must simply have faith and know that He is the savior who has fulfilled the laws. We must know we are a sinner and cannot keep any laws as Paul says and if those laws weren’t given, we would have no reason to sin.

Now it wasn’t until Roman Emperor Constantine came on the scene, and became a Christian that Catholicism began. He became born again. He was so zealous, that he wanted the whole of Rome to become Christian, however they had all been pagans up to this point. As most people understand, you cannot force conversions. Especially since these pagans, were anti-Semitic and the Christians, for the most part, were still mostly Jewish. So, to make it more palatable, he allowed the mix of the pagan practices. The Goddess Astarte, for example was worshipped. She was the goddess of fertility. And instead of celebrating Passover, which the Romans, would not do, they used eggs and bunnies, etc. as and celebrated Easter or Resurrection Sunday.

Sunday, was taken from the Sun God( yes, even our calendars have pagan roots), and although Jesus did not celebrate His own birthday anywhere in scripture, He did celebrate the Festival of Lights, Chanukah and it was on this day that he spoke to the religious leaders when he stated, “I am the light of the world!” Claiming to be the center candle of the menorah, gives this whole new meaning when we understand this from His perspective.

Without offending anyone, as Paul has stated, “everything is acceptable, but everything is now acceptable in the Lord, since we have freedom in the Spirit, however, everything is not beneficial.” Yes, in my house, I do both. I celebrate Resurrection Sunday, yet I also celebrate the Passover, since I know that the Lord Is the Passover. I know that He did not celebrate Easter and place a basket of eggs and chocolate bunnies around his house. Although its okay. Let me tell you, if you’ve ever been to a seder, you will wonder why the Jews do not see Jesus as the messiah. I recommend every believer do this. The Lord told us that it is meant for all of us to celebrate throughout every generation They are not called the Jewish Feasts, but the Feasts of the Lord. And they are meant for believers more than anyone else and in them is a mystery;the timetable of God, unlocked only by those with the Spirit of God.

What the Lord told us to do is this: “Learn of Me Not any religious doctrine, not any man-made institution. It was in the name of every religion that He was crucified. The word religion itself means, a return to bondage. I want freedom. Freedom in Christ. Freedom from the law to know Him.But now I know, I am part of this covenant. I am no longer judged by the law and there is nothing greater than this. I want everyone to know this freedom.

He is the beginning and  the end of everything. The Alpha and Omega.

Now What Are the Signs?

yeshua the messiah

yeshua the messiah

This is what my son had asked me the other night. I told him that this was one of my favorite courses of studies when first becoming interested in the Bible. I didn’t ever want to know about any religion and it is a funny thing when I look back at my youth. I grew up in a Lutheran church, with a visit to Jewish summer camp every year. I was fascinated with this culture. My best friend was Nina Cohen, the camp owner’s daughter. I loved everything, Jewish. The music, and the dances. I had no idea why, but I did.

When I heard they were “the chosen people,” I wondered at that as well. Chosen for what? They certainly seemed to be chosen for disaster, when I had read ‘The Diary of Anne Frank.’ I cried.Hearing about the Holocaust and Hitlers reign of terror and everything in the bible. Geesh, what could they be chosen for? But I just had a love for these people. The heartbreak was palpable and yet they  had so much tenacity. No wonder that most of them had migrated to New York! You have to love them! But their lives were so much like my own, perhaps I was Jewish. I had everything that this people had. All the tragedy, the gumption to keep going, everything, … well except the money of course, it’s probably why I loved them so.

Yet, even God had referred to them as “a stiff-necked people!”(Ex 34:9) It would be this enduring quality that would make them take an 11 day journey and stretch it out to wandering for 40 years of their lives. Yet isn’t what God is trying to point out about their stubbornness? That all of us have a choice to do this life’s journey with Him or without Him? It’s our choice. We can see the price that was paid.

Now what are the signs that the Lord spoke of?

First you must read everything that the Lord speaks to the disciples as they are admiring the beauty of the temple stones and surroundings. Don’t forget that the Lord tells them that the temple will be destroyed. He is also referring to Himself as the temple and He tells them that they will be persecuted. He speaks into the future events. He is speaking of into near events as well as far into the future, our lifetime.(Luke 21:5-25)

Now skip to the next verses;

The Lord speaks a parable about a fig tree. “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and   know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.

I tell you the truth , this generation will certainly not pass away until these things have happened.. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words, will never pass away. Well, we know from studying Israel, that the Lord referred to this nation as, “the fig tree.”

After thousands of years of being dispersed and following the holocaust, known as the diaspora, they did become a nation in 1948, the fig tree blossomed once again.

Another sign was that the Lord told us all of the Jews would come return to their homeland once again. “From the north, south, east and west. He would bring them home again. Bearing the babes in their arms.” Even though the Jews had this land, not all of them had returned.

Well, this seemed to be an impossibility since so many Jews were still in communist countries until the Berlin Wall came down. I was watching in amazement while watching this. God had supernaturally placed this desire in the hearts of the Jewish people to return to Israel as many made “Aaliyah” and made the journey to Israel. Some with no relatives at all living there.

Then again, in 1990, I turned on the news to see something quite remarkable. It gave me goosebumps and I cried as I was learning from my pastor so much about the Jews and these beautiful fulfillment of events. Here it was, A coup had broken out in Ethiopia and there were thousands of Ethiopian Jews that were being almost quietly rushed out of the country. All of the seats taken out of these 747’s and so many of these people put in the airplanes that some pregnant women were landing on Israeli soil with “their babes in arms!” I cried as I watched the Israeli people welcoming them into their homeland. God was bringing His people back home. These Ethiopian Jews are direct descendants of Solomon himself! Now I’m reading this account, once again and it was called, Operation Moses and Operation Joshua. Interesting, how everything comes full circle. They were trying to keep these Jews from leaving, but an agreement was reached and at the last minute, just as Pharaoh had done, reneged on his promise. All this a coincidence? I think not.

So now I remind my son, that the Lord told His disciples, how is it you can discern the weather but not the signs of the times? Everyone likes to quote the portion of scripture, “No one knows the day or the hour, but they forget that He continues, “But be Aware, of the signs of the times! As a true believer, with the Spirit guiding you, how can you not?

Now there are two parts to His second coming. He returns for the body of believers. Then the time of tribulation begins. It does not end the world. In fact a time of trouble like no other begins. “The time of Jacobs Troubles.”

Now I don’t know about you, but I tend to believe that we are the generation,to see these things happen. And as the Lord stated, we shall not pass away before His return. So don’t shoot me, I’m just the messenger.

Yes, my posts may be long. But the time is short. It is a time of warning to bring in the final harvest.

Still, to my knowledge, it is  not as long as Paul who preached so long that a man fell asleep in the window and fell out and died. lol So just don’t read this from an open window! and let me know if that happens. He had to go out and raise him from the dead! (Acts20:9)

Isaiah 53…Read it and Weep!

jesus_37“I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves bitterly for a firstborn son.(Zech 12:10-11 This exact verse is repeated in John 19:37 as the disciples realized that this prophecy was fulfilled with the crucifixion of Jesus.Only the remnant had seen this, but there will come a time when the whole nation of Israel will see His return and mourn as they realize, indeed He is the one who had made the Atonement for all..and they will weep…bitterly.

Remember Jesus had looked over the nation of Israel at one point and mourned for her Himself as He said, “Oh, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. (Mt 23:37-38)

Now as we see what Isaiah spoke almost 700 years before the coming messiah, we understand that this was a nation of people who had seen many people claiming to be the messiah, not unlike the crackpots we have experienced in our own lifetime. For even John the Baptist had to ask Jesus, if He was the one, or if He should expect someone else. And finally, the Father indeed confirmed that Jesus, was His son, “in whom He was well pleased.”

We cannot condemn these people and had it not been for the ‘blinding’ of the Jews, we would not have been ‘grafted’ into the vine, as Paul spoke of in scripture. We have to be grateful for this and the preservation of the words of the prophets and the laws. This was all done with a plan and a purpose to bring them back to the original vine. It is the ‘ingrafting’ and the gentile church is responsible to ”provoke the Jew to jealousy.” This being a Godly jealousy, to make them envy our understanding of the Word and their God. To know that they can now enter into the Holy of Holies, because the temple sacrifice has already been made by the blood of Jesus Christ and the curtain has been torn allowing us entrance.

When we can prove this by scripture, they will mourn the one, whom they have pierced and the blinders shall be removed. As I stated in earlier posts, the first believers were all Jews, yet now the greater following are the gentiles. This will change as we enter into the end times, however, according to the Oracle, by the prophets and the gentile believers are a big part of that movement, so we absolutely need to understand our own Judaic roots.

Isaiah 53

Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

He grew up before Him like a tender shoot and like a root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.

(I find this interesting. It actually states that He wasn’t attractive. So much for the Hollywood version.)

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.

Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,

yet we considered him stricken by God,(just think, He is God! Yet people thought He was being cursed!)

smitten by him, and afflicted.

But He was pierced for our transgressions, (pierced in His side)

he was crushed for our iniquities (crushing blows to the head with a crown of thorns)

The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed(beatings upon his back that pulled the flesh from his back in strips) It’s also interesting to me on Passover that the matzo is pierced and striped, and unleavened which symbolized sin. (another teaching)

We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

each of us has turned to his own way,

and the Lord, has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted.

yet, he did not open his mouth, (He was examined before Pilate and did not speak, although he was found to be innocent)

and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,

so he did not open his mouth.

By oppression, and judgment he was taken away,.

And who can speak of his descendants? (kind of puts to rest any theories about Jesus and Mary.)

For He was cut off from the land of the living;(His death) for the transgression of my people he was stricken.(the penalty for sin)

He was assigned to a grave with the wicked, (two thieves on the cross)

and with the rich in his death,(Joseph of Arimathea donated his own tomb to Jesus)

though he had done no violence, nor any deceit in his mouth,(the thief stated that this man had done no wrong and asked that Jesus take him with Him when He entered into Paradise)

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, (The Lord said, “I lay my life down willingly, only to take it up again!”)

and though the Lord makes his life a guilt offering

he will see his offspring and prolong his days, (everyone who gives their life to Christ, “by faith,” becomes a descendant.)

and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.

After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied, by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and He will bear their iniquities. (The resurrection)

therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors.

For He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

To think that this prophet had spoken this hundreds of years before Jesus had come to the earth, yet they still did not see it. What a perfect plan.

It was the evening before that the Passover meal had been celebrated with Jesus and his disciples and the moment He was on the cross was when the High Priest was slaughter the lamb on the altar in the Holy of Holies, symbolizing the rite of passage and God had torn the curtain in two making it an acceptable sacrifice. This is when the words were spoken, “It is finished!”

When the person saw Christ hanging on the cross and said, “Behold the lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!” He was speaking in plural terms. The exodus from Egypt. The temple. The cross. It all came together at that one eternal moment on the cross. One sacrifice for all eternity, for all mankind. It is finished!

This is why we can apply the blood of the Lamb to the door post of our hearts, by faith, and the Angel of Death Must Pass Over us upon our death. We our guaranteed life eternal because of the perfect sacrifice! Not because of anything we’ve done, but because of what Christ has done for us!

One of My Greatest Accomplishments:

100_0065_00 Getting kicked out of a Jewish nursing home.

Yes, such a rabble-rouser I am! I had gone in to this nursing home to visit a girl who I had met in the bible study we had started. It was in a residence that we would go to weekly for people with the aids virus. At times the people who were very ill would be sent to the hospital, hospice or nursing homes in other areas for care.

Well, this happened to be a Jewish facility, however, non Jews were also sent to this nursing home, as well.

On this particular day, I was walking in and I was wearing a shirt that had Isaiah 53 on it. This is the messianic chapter of Isaiah. It speaks all about the prophecies of Jesus and what He would accomplish, detailing what the nation of Israel was to look for in their messiah. It is amazing prophecy and every detail, indeed was fulfilled by Jesus, which can be pointed out to any Jew, to prove that Yeshua (Jesus), is the Jewish messiah, sent to the nation of Israel, including the fact that  He is also of the lineage of David. Now since Jesus was crucified and the temple was destroyed taking with it all genealogical records, making this crucial fact impossible to carry on any further into history. It seemed to prove once again that the prophets were all on the same page when it came to the stated lineage from the “messiah coming from the house of David.”

A funny thing with the Christian church. It seemed that the Old Testament was not a course of study for many. A very sad thing indeed, since it is our command to “witness first to the Jew then to the Gentile.” How can we do this if we don’t understand the Jewish mind?

Isaiah 53, is a chapter that is left out in many synagogues. Of all the chapters in the book of Isaiah, it is the one in the whole book of Isaiah that is the crucifixion in its entirety! That’s right. It’s no wonder that it is left out. By chance? I’m not sure or if it is spiritually swept under the rug, so to speak. But read it yourself. I will save that for my next post, however, I walked into that nursing home and the little old man named Charlie sat in his wheelchair and what happened next can only be described as supernatural.

It was my family. We were walking and as I approached, he was reading. He looked as if he was too old to see, but yet he was reading the text on the shirt, “he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds, we are healed.”

As he read, I asked him his name. He told me, “Charlie.” Well, Charlie, do you know who that is about?” “No” “That is about Jesus, the messiah”

At this point, I had no idea what belief he was, but he said, “I never heard any of this in Hebrew school.” I smiled. He looked to be about 80 or so. I already knew quite a bit about Hebrew school. “No,” I said, “I wouldn’t imagine you would . Listen, Charlie, Did you know that Jesus, has already come, and He’s coming back again?

He looked at me with eyes opened wide. “How come I’ve never heard this before?” He asked. “Well, Charlie, “Perhaps, No one else really understands or knows this, but He has come to the nation of Israel, and all you have to do is believe. He is about to return again. Do you want me to pray with you?” At this point Charlie grabbed my arm and he had tears in his eyes. “You’re the first person that has ever given me hope!” He said. I almost started crying.

As we sat in the hallway and I stood with my family and we were praying with him, a bunch of people were starting to pass by for the dinner hour. All of the older people were staring as they were walking by. All of a sudden I felt a woman stop and she seemed to be very agitated. Then a man came behind me. As I ended the prayer, the woman angrily yelled, “What church are you from?” I answered, “I’m not from a church.” “Well, what religion are you?” I’m not a religion.”” Well, I heard you say the name of Jesus!” “Yes, I did,” I said.

Now the man stepped in. I sensed he was trying to calm this woman down as she seemed very reactive. “Who are you visiting?” He asked. “Well, I originally came in to visit Linda, but Charlie started talking to me and then he said I could pray with him.” “That doesn’t sound like Charlie at all.” He said. Hmm, I said, “Yes, I suppose, that is totally out of character.” “Go to dinner Charlie, he yelled. At this point Charlie seemed clearly excited by the whole thing and I sensed that this was the most drama he’d experienced in a long time. He started wheeling himself down the hall and I was praying that the Lord was filling him with His spirit as he was leaving. I was praying that he really understood what he had done.

At this point the Administrator was looking at me intently and I realized he was staring at the necklace I was wearing. It is a Star of David with a Cross in the middle of it. It has been a source of confusion for many. I’ve had people ask, “are you trying to cover all the bases?” lol “Are you Jewish or Christian?” Never realizing that to be a Christian does in essence make you a Jew. The first Christians were all Jews and we are of the same vine.

So now the man is staring and he says, “When you come in here you must visit the person you come in to visit!” I said, “Are you kidding me? This is a nursing home. These people are happy to have anyone visit them.” “Yes, he says, but you can’t just go around praying for people!” And in the name of Jesus! This is a Jewish home!” I said, “I may be more Jewish than you. Now, let me ask you something. If the name of Jesus,  doesn’t mean anything and it doesn’t carry any power, then why are you so disturbed that I should pray for someone in that name?”

At this point he became very upset and said, “I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” “Ok, I said. And at that, he escorted us out the back door. As soon as we were out, my ex husband and daughter and I laughed and high-fived each other at the thought of Charlie and all the excitement he had just experienced and the talk in the cafeteria that evening.

I had a sadness at the conversation though as I realized he’d been all through school and had never heard about the messiah promised to the nation of Israel. That is not until he was in his latter years. To grab my arm. It reminded me of the time I was in the hospital praying with a young man about to die. He did the same thing. The desperation in his eyes as he grabbed me. It was the same look. The Lord loves these souls. So much that He snatches them away from the jaws of the enemy, right before the end, through someone elses hands. I love to be the one to see that. There is nothing that compares.

I remember being in a church once and being so active in ministry that we joked of being in the “inner circle,” before, the church became all crazy and split. I wasn’t happy as I was happiest when I was serving outside the church. My joke became that we were so far in the inner circle we were out! The other day my son came up with something even better, he said, I was in more of a cul de sac! lol I loved that! I was never into status. I was the one that went into places that no one would want to go. Because this is where I would want someone to come if I was all alone. In the nursing homes, in the hospital.

I don’t care how wealthy or poor a person is, they will all face this one day.

Now, after Charlie had made this decision, I wondered if he really knew what he had done. I wanted to confirm this decision and wanted to give him a bible. I also had a book written by a holocaust survivor that had come to know the messiah, and I knew Charlie loved to read.

But how were we going to get into that nursing home? As my daughter and her dad and I were talking one day about this dilemma, we stood in a mall near our home. We looked up and there about 50 feet away from us stood the Administrator of this nursing home with another man! We could not believe our eyes, as this nursing home was quite a distance from this mall. “Well,” I said, “I guess this is a sign, that it’s time to go!” We laughed as we drove over to this place and the minute we walked in, there was Charlie in his chair right by the door. And as sure as we knew the Lord would confirm to us, he looked right at us and said, “Hey, did you guys get in trouble?” lol “Nah! Not too much! How about you?” “Oh, no, I told everyone about what you guys told me! he said, excitedly!” Then I gave him the books and he was so touched.

I think about the seeds that had been planted through Charlie in that nursing home and how sharp he was. I would do it all again. To be kicked out of a nursing home before I was ever accepted in! There is no greater accomplishment than that! If only the Administrator would have given me an award for my wall!

To the Greatest Rabble Rouser of the Jewish Nursing Home

Hmmm, come to think of it, I may have come in second for that as well!

Prepare For ‘Aras’ (matrimony)

High school boothI am the Shulamite, Solomon’s Queen.

I will dance with you.

You will not defile me, As the others have.

You brought me back to yourself, back from despair.

When I thought I could not laugh again.

You would not hurt me.

You gently took me by the hand and led me to a quiet place. I trusted you. You unveiled your face for my eyes only, and my soul was pierced. And in that moment…what I had thought impossible…I am healed…set free!

Those eyes! They know me. And they have always known me. And they love me,

This is love eternal!

The Natural Man vs The Spiritual Man

The Word of God tells us that we have two kinds of people in this world. The “natural or “psychikos,” or the spiritual man/woman(pnueumatikos)which is the person which has been regenerated by the power of the Holy Spirit and lives by the Spirit of God.

We also know that the Bible refers to the world and everything in it under Satans control. He is called the “god of this world.” The Christian is to overcome by the power of the Holy spirit by denying the temptations of this world and wage war against this world and thereby yielding ourselves to the voice of the Holy Spirit and His call to become sanctified.

I have always had experiences in my life that I would call, ‘different.’ I would not even share some of these things, as I know that most people could not even relate to these things as they are of a natural mind. The Lord spoke of these people as “natural men and said “that this is  foolishness to men who do not have the Spirit of God.”

I observe things on a daily basis and take note of these things as I ponder them, and I jot them down. I have always kept a journal and wondered why most people do not notice the details that I notice, yet, I know when I read the word of God, it is because, as Paul says, only some observe as they are growing in faith.Throughout the book of  Revelation the Lord speaks, “Let the one  that has an ear, hear what the Spirit is speaking.” And also “There will come a time when my people will worship me in Spirit and in truth.”

I love this scripture. This indicates that the more the natural man lets go of the things of this world and all of its trappings, the more he will experience God.

The Lord seemed to show us this in His own example as He went off all alone and He also fasted from everything. This was when Satan came to him in the desert and the first temptation was of course…food. The natural mans prime need. How many natural men would fail that test? But to know that God has a mission for us. A reason and a much higher calling, than feeding our bodies. Or to accomplish that business deal. Yes, this the very highest calling of all. Our eternal goal that He has in store for us. Our spiritual race that we are running. And it is the marathon.

Now, I have a Concordance that I study. And every person should study, “to show themselves approved of God.”

I have a New International  Full Life Study Bible, because I love the articles in this bible. I quote most of them and cannot live without this. It has helped me with most of my studies.

When people state that the bible was written by men, I laugh. Then they have never read the bible. The bible was written by men, of course, “as inspired, by the Holy Spirit.” When the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered they were the complete works of Isaiah in entirety and as I’ve seen many times the archaeological records to prove the historical accuracy of the bible is enough but for someone that doesn’t have faith, there can never be enough proof, yet for someone that does have faith, proof  is not necessary.

If you say you believe in God, then you must believe that He is powerful enough to be the perfect editor of His own words to  His creation.

According to scripture, all government, education, business, etc. are ruled by the the the natural ruling spirits of this world and are opposed to the Spirit of God. They have a different belief system as we know from our understanding from God’s word. The Lord tells us plainly “not to cast our pearls before swine to be trampled underfoot.” I am inclined, at times to share some of my observations from the Spirit, and am reminded, that this is going to be perceived as foolish, this is why He tells us this.

This is why we pray, “His kingdom come, His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” He wants every mans eyes to be opened.

This is my prayer and I pray that the “natural man” also turns and becomes part of the final harvest as well.

I Am A Thief

Today was my day of reckoning.

Yes, today. I was asked a question a few days ago about my past and I told them what I thought to be a truthful answer, but it wasn’t until my post, yesterday that I had a recall  new events. The Lord reminded me of my youth and how different I am now. But still, I am reminded that indeed:

I am a thief. Yes and a liar. And I am self-righteous. I had all but forgotten these events because I colored them as grey and they were so muted, that I saw myself as a “whiter shade of pale.” And so much better than others.

When I was young I was very rebellious and I thought that a life of crime would be perfect. I lived in the inner city and this is a badge of honor. You earn bragging rights for stealing. And living in a project brings a special toughness for a girl’s survival.

My brother and I still laugh about a guy that was bragging to me one day while we were walking down the street. He was telling me about the houses he had broken into and he pointed to the homes. “Yep, I broke into that one, and that one, and that one.” This is when he pointed to my house!

I was furious! “You A**! My mother freaked out!” I told him. And she did. I remember that night. She went downstairs and screamed. She said, “Get out of my house before I get my husband”, as she ran back up the stairs.

Well, after he realized how mad I was, he was so scared, he said, “Hey listen, I need a brown bag. I’ll pay you $30. “Ok,” I said. That made up for it, I guess. That’s how we did things in the ghetto. My brother and I thought he was a little slow anyway. Why would you rob from poor people? It just doesn’t make sense.

Well, we didn’t break into homes, but we did steal and it seemed it was acceptable. Me and my friends would go out on sprees and it just was a part of life in the ghetto Somehow stealing from stores rather than a person didn’t seem the same. And it was with those pastor’s kids that Iremember first learning some of these tricks, as well. Remember,(as I stated below) that they felt they had something to prove and the peer pressure is terrible at that age. I think of this and watch my children carefully. Our conscience didn’t seem to bother us. A few friends had been caught,(including a couple of those pk’s) but I wasn’t, and was almost proud of that.I’m reminded of the scripture, “They glory in their shame.” I quit before I was caught, but not because of my conscience, but more out of fear.

But, I realized today, I am exactly like those people who I have been so angry with. Those executives that have robbed me, are just of a different caliber, yet the heart is still the same.People working in big corporations look at the up line and almost believe that if “they’ve had things stolen from them, it’s acceptable to steal.” I’ve heard them say this. They believe they are taking back what’s been stolen from them.

I remember when I worked for Eastern Airlines and the employees were told to call Wackenhut Security if they suspected anyone of stealing. They were given a 1-800 to call. This was after we had been asked to give a 20% wage concession, which wasn’t to wise on the company’s behalf, as the phone lines were flooded with calls from employees reporting theft. “Yes, I’d like to report a theft.” “Can you tell me what was stolen?” “Yes, 20% seems to be missing from my paycheck!” The company was so irritated with this ingenious strategy from the employees, that they shut down the Wackenhut lines. It’s rather humorous, but as the saying goes, “there’s no honor among thieves.” They couldn’t really expect that to work.

The Lord has shown me this day, that whether it is me, or it is the corporate managers that have been driven by greed,

He died for us. We are all thieves. We are all liars. We are all sinners. I have been so angry because I felt these people and their greed killed my father.

But the Lord showed me something about those thieves on the cross. My father was the thief too. My father would have been next to the Lord, on the cross too. We all crucified Him. It is the reason that we have been given this picture of Him at Calvary.

Two thieves. One on each side of Christ. The only difference is that one of the thieves recognizes his need of the savior and accepts His free gift of salvation and the other  does not. The other was still trying to justify himself, even on his own cross. Unwilling to humble himself.

The other hurls insults at the only one that can save him. Never the less, they both are still thieves like us. They both are lost without a savior.

So I must be reminded, that I am a sinner, saved by grace. As Paul said, “I repent daily. I must be reminded that Paul, Murdered Christians, Peter denied Christ, and all of the disciples were tragically martyred for their faith, so who am I? To be counted amoung such great men and women of faith?

“We all like sheep have gone astray.” Isaiah 53:6

The Lord told me this day, that until I realize that “I am the thief and the liar,” He cannot use me to bring others to the knowledge of Christ. Until I realize that I’m not any better than these men. I’m not  more saved. We have the same free offer. There is no degree of sin in the Lord’s eyes. It’s not to say, that we aren’t accountable. He will see to that in His time. We have all paid the price for our sins, but the Lord comes to show us the way out of captivity.

I will hold no anger, but I will strive to have love and peace.

I felt so justified. But I cannot be justified. But I can be forgiven. And I want these that do not know Him, to also know what it is to be forgiven. To know what this means. To have the slate wiped clean. The peace that this brings. Finally…the cessation of lust. True peace.

And the most beautiful picture of all. What did Christ say to the thief that asked, “Lord, will you take me with you when you enter into your kingdom?” He answered, “I tell you the truth, this very day you shall enter with me into paradise!”

There you have it. Everything in this man’s life. Under the blood.

All is forgiven.

He is the Prince of Peace!

We all crucified Him

We all crucified Him

He Defends the Defenseless

Let the Children Come Unto Me
Let the Children Come Unto Me

This morning I had an encounter with the Lord. He told me to take a stand again. He makes me rise to the occasion when I see injustice and I absolutely hate it when I see someone who cannot fight for themselves. Over the years, I’m reminded of the countless times that people have come to my defense and I know they are “servants sent from on high.”

I went to my son’s baseball game and before it started, I looked over and there was a man across the field on the other bleachers. He was sitting behind a little girl screaming at her.
I was sitting next to my ex husband and he told me, “You should have seen that guy! He just grabbed that little girl and threw her into the bleachers!”
Now I hear the man yelling at the girl, “I’m going to take you into the bathroom and kick your a**!”
This I could not believe! I mean the girl could not be more than 10 years old and this guy sounded like he was talking to some guy in a bar!
I thought he may be embarrassed, as he was now getting louder, but no…he told her to “turn around.” As he made animated hand motions and his face was turning red.
Now he got up from his seat and stood in front of her and he began yelling louder. “I’m going to take you into that bathroom and kick your a**!
This whole scene was just incredible. Given the fact that there were all kinds of guys in their dugout, including coaches, and we were sitting on our side.
My stepdaughter commented that this reminded her of those shows where they test people to see if anyone is going to do anything.
“I watched as the girl started to cry and  I said, “Yea, well, I am going to do something!”
I heard the guy counting, as I was walking over.
He’s standing over the little girl…”One, Two
“Oh,” I’m thinking, just let this guy hit her,”
I walk up and look at him and I noticed some woman was behind us watching the whole scene.
Hmmm, maybe this is a really bad episode of “Punked, or Candid Camera’ but this guy needs to be confronted
“I’m sorry,” I say, he looks at me as if he ‘s a little boy who knows that he’s doing something wrong.
“I’ve been listening to you from across the field and I can’t listen to this anymore.”
“It’s terrible, what you are doing to this little girl.”
“I’m disciplining my daughter,” he tells me, as if this makes everything ok.
“You call that discipline? This is verbal abuse! You are hurting her.”
At that moment I looked at her and she was crying so hard she couldnt catch her breath. I asked her. “Are you ok?” She was afraid to look at me. Of course. She loves her father and yet she’s afraid of him. It shouldn’t be this way. Yet, he he didn’t seem to realize that he was hurting her.I sensed  years of therapy ahead of him and who knows how often this behavior has taken place between them or if anyone has ever spoken to him about this before?
At that moment my stepdaughter walked up behind me and backed me up.
The coaches also walked up. “What’s going on?” They asked.
At this point the guy tried to defend himself once again by stating that he was “discipling his daughter and any circuit court would agree with him!” My stepdaughter said,  “He’s over here, cursing at his little girl and threatening her with little kids all around! We’ve seen him throwing her and it’s terrible!”
Of course, I felt sorry for the little girl. My only concern was for her, as she had to leave with her father.
I knew he had no idea that he had a lack of self control until others said something, as he wasn’t even embarrassed about his behavior.
I thought about the innocence of the child and the fact that the Lord comes to defend us through the actions of others.
He loves the children.
It was amazing that this man had no problem bullying this child but had no justification when faced with the reality of his anger. He was the one with the problem, not his child.
Now I believe in discipline, don’t get me wrong, but this was a man trying to throw his own weight around, and in the end, it will be a weight that will crush him.
As we watched the game, I watched his behavior with his chld. Another couple had arrived and it was obvious that he told them the whole story of our contfrontation, yet he had to feel  some conviction. He was very quiet and I saw his little girl sitting on the woman’s lap.
and protectiveness for her and even a compassion for her father.
I am praying that her father can learn to control his anger and they can learn from this so that he will not live with regrets.
This is why the Lord brings these things to the surface.
